What will you be doing!

  • Producing, updating, and improving maintenance documentation, including procedures, manuals, emergency protocols, safety and QA documents.
  • Identifying, investigating, and resolving maintenance-related issues.
  • Supporting the effective execution of site maintenance activities.
  • Coordinating and supporting maintenance work, planning, and execution.
  • Reviewing internal work plans and replacement component documentation.
  • Incorporating lessons learned from operating experience into maintenance programs.
  • Planning and coordinating process improvements, upgrades, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Recommending equipment and process improvements to optimize performance.
  • Acting as a single point of contact for maintenance-related activities.
  • Reviewing designs, developing and reviewing work plans, and supporting preventive maintenance procedures in the field.
  • Conducting and coordinating facility walkdowns to enhance preventive maintenance programs.
  • Optimizing maintenance programs for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Providing technical maintenance support for projects and non-standard testing.
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are properly documented.
  • Supporting lifecycle management by addressing and upgrading aging system components.
  • Developing, revising, and delivering training on maintenance-related activities.
  • Performing on-call duties, as required.
  • Supporting equipment performance by assisting in establishing and maintaining technical parameters.
  • Assisting with identifying and procuring replacement materials and equipment.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes and effectiveness.
  • Supporting resolution of procedural gaps within maintenance programs.
  • Serving as a technical resource for maintenance teams.
  • Collaborating with managers, engineers, supervisors, operators, and skilled trades.
  • Supporting predictive maintenance programs and initiatives.
  • Assisting with the Master Equipment List program.
  • Acting as a technical specialist in preventive maintenance (PM) development and change management.
  • Supporting Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Order-to-Operate processes.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in all work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
    • A membership or eligible for membership with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM) as a Registered Professional Engineer is an asset.
  • Experience
    • Experience in maintenance planning, design, commissioning and/or operations experience in a plant or nuclear operating environment would be an asset.
    • Experience resolving complex technical challenges from both strategic and execution perspectives.
    • Experience providing technical leadership to professional and technical teams.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of radiation protection principles and practices is considered an asset.
    • Demonstrated understanding of project management principles.
    • Proven ability to produce highquality technical documentation with strong written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of CNL operations, maintenance, and project environments is considered an asset.
    • Basic understanding of safety requirements within industrial operations.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across a large, multidisciplinary organization.
    • Demonstrated a high level of discipline, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering quality work.
    • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, solve technical problems, and make independent decisions.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

    • Strong technical writing and document review skills with demonstrated ability to efficiently produce and review technical and business documents.
    • Knowledge of CLC, CAN N286, ISO 9001, and CEC C22.1-15 standards is considered an asset.
    • Familiarity with CSA Z460 (Lockout/Tagout), CSA Z462, or NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety) is considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of HVAC systems, CSA B51 pressure boundary systems, piping systems, and facility design/maintenance is considered an asset.
    • Understanding of building and piping codes and compliance standards (e.g., ASME, CSA) is considered an asset.
    • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
    • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of nuclear facilities is considered an asset.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Working Conditions:

  • We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • This position is part of the WPEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in their Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you'll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
  • Extended hours may be required to support project needs.
  • Must possess normal physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involve bending, lifting and mobility.
  • Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.
  • Visual concentration is required for reviewing reports, drawings, and other documents.
  • Walking and navigating a construction and demolition environment.
