Company Description Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science and Technology is a K–5 public charter school dedicated to engaging students, families, and the community through scientific inquiry and innovative technology. The school focuses on developing students’ social, emotional, and academic skills so they can thrive in both school and an increasingly interconnected world. Exploration emphasizes project-based learning and other traditional and non-traditional methodologies to build strong academic, social, and life skills. Through partnerships and hands-on projects, students are empowered to problem-solve, create positive environments, and gain the tools needed for continued educational success and leadership in their community.
Role Description The Social Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Rochester, NY, supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development. The Social Worker will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services to students and families. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, school leaders, and support staff to promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. The Social Worker will facilitate family engagement, connect students and caregivers with community resources, and help design social-emotional learning initiatives aligned with the school’s mission. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, complying with all relevant regulations, and participating in school-wide meetings, professional development, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills in student counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Ability to conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized intervention and support plans.
  • Experience collaborating with educators, families, and community agencies to support student success.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills in a school or youth-serving environment.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and inclusive practices.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field; current state licensure or eligibility as a social worker preferred.
  • Experience working in K–12 schools or with children and adolescents, particularly in diverse, urban communities, is beneficial.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound professional judgment, and comply with all applicable laws and school policies.
