Are you looking for a rewarding way to make a difference while making a living?
Advocates is seeking a creative, patient and compassionate Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with a wonderful, loving, friendly and very active young man with a developmental disability. In this critical role, you will help him in learning key independent living skills, teach him skills to communicate and interact with others, and assist him in experiencing social, recreational, and physical fitness opportunities in the community. The ideal candidate will have effective communication and leadership skills, patience, active and strong organizational skills. The mentor must also possess the ability to motivate people and provide personal care for this young man. Please respond with resume or summary of experience.
Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. Internet access and a valid email address are required.
Hours and days of work
Wednesday (8:30 AM - 5:45 PM)
This is a part-time position, but opportunities exist for additional hours with other individuals within the agency.
Pay rate: $26 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.
Location: Manlius, NY
