Manager of Development Operations

The Manager of Development Operations will play a critical role in advancing the mission of Truth Initiative by managing and optimizing the systems and operations that are crucial to a thriving development team. As part of an exciting, fast-growing Development team within the Development and Partnerships department, the Development Operations Manager will be responsible for Development data management/reporting, project/fundraising campaign/event management, and business development support.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations related to recording, tracking, and reporting on fundraising activities and donations including refining processes and procedures related to data capture from front line fundraisers, maintaining data integrity, and generating reports on activity, pipeline development, and revenue projections in collaboration with Finance (currently Basecamp + Excel/Sharepoint; moving to an organization-wide CRM in FY2027)
  • Represent Development team on organization-wide CRM task force to select a vendor, integrate existing Development data into the new system, help develop and document processes and procedures for successful and efficient CRM utilization for Development in the future including training staff on successful usage, and serve as CRM long-term lead for Development
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures for capturing fundraising activities involving board members, partners, clients, vendors, fundraising consultants, or other external entities, including preparing donor acknowledgments and thank you letters
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track and report on fundraising performance
  • Develop and maintain fundraising calendars, including upcoming conferences, meetings, grant/RFP deadlines, and proposal deadlines
  • Lead project management for Development initiatives, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional coordination are met
  • Create, manage and track individual fundraising campaigns (board, staff, EX Program, Marketing, etc.) through DonorBox
  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising meetings, events and webinars with external entities, including logistics, vendor coordination, and post-event analysis
  • Conduct prospect research including identifying contact information and preparing prospect briefs
  • Respond to and/or field incoming inquiries to appropriate fundraising lead
  • Assist with preparation for meetings and proposals including deck development and assembly of proposals, including coordinating inputs across internal teams.
  • Support the Development team with other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant certification is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in development operations, fundraising, or nonprofit management
  • Strong experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or similar platforms)
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience supporting fundraising campaigns, events, or donor engagement initiatives
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset

This position is based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two telework days. Compensation package: The salary range for this role is starting at $85,000-$90,000 per year on a national basis. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, location, and certifications, consistent with applicable law.
