Wieland is hiring a Safety & Operations Coordinator to join the team! The Safety & Operations Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of maintaining the Safety and VPP programs for Wieland Metal Services Warwick, RI locations, as well as developing and maintaining lines of communication with the hourly and salary workforce. They will also be responsible for supporting the Corporate EH&S Manager in our key strategies and initiatives for all Wieland locations. This role is located in Warwick, RI and will be fully on-site.


Safety & Operations Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a safety program aligned to OSHA and Company guidelines. Ensure that systems, controls, documentation and above all, attitudes are consistent with a “Safety First” culture.
  • Drive, prepare for, and maintain the VPP Star status initiative.
  • Conduct analyses of occupational incidents, injuries, property damage, hazard reports and near misses as part of a regular compliance safety review.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assist in correct health safety hazards.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in performing risk assessments of work/processes.  
  • Provide training and materials assistance to ensure safe and healthy work practices.
  • Analyze injury and illness reports and monitor data for trends.
  • Assist in incident/accident investigations.
  • Monitor compliance with OHSMS including health and safety statutes and regulations and organizational health and safety policies, programs and guidelines.
  • Note instances of noncompliance and recommended improvements of the OHSMS.
  • Pursing professional development activities.
  • Coordinate key S&H improvement initiatives (VPP).
  • Establish, chair, coordinate, etc. safety teams/committees as needed.
    • Ergonomics Team.
    • Housekeeping Team.
    • First Responder Team.
    • Safety Inspection Team.
    • Accident Investigation Team.
    • Area Safety Representative Team, etc.
  • Encourage Supervisors/Foreman to allow volunteers to serve on teams/committees.
  • Solicit employee opinion on selecting certain PPE, training topics, etc.
  • Recruit employees to conduct area inspections for Warwick site.
  • Coordinate monthly inspections and training for Warwick site.
  • Manage and maintain “Safety Data Sheets” for Warwick site.
  • Manage and distribute alerts for Wieland Warwick site: First Aid, Near Misses, Property Damage, Recordables & Incident Investigations.

Safety & Operations Coordinator Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent a plus
  • Minimum of one year experience in supporting safety and health programs in manufacturing sites.
  • Excellent organization and follow-through skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to prioritize multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must be detail-oriented and recognize importance of accuracy and timeliness in completing tasks.
  • Must recognize the importance of confidentiality in handling employee information and records.
