Job description

Role Summary:
Seeking a skilled and passionate Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist II to join their high-performing cardiovascular team. In this critical role, youโ€™ll play an integral part in delivering advanced cardiac care by supporting diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of cardiac innovation โ€” monitoring patient status, assisting physicians during complex procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, precision, and compassion.

As a senior-level technologist, youโ€™ll bring clinical expertise, leadership, and a deep understanding of cardiovascular pathologies, making a direct impact on patient outcomes every single day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology.

  • Monitor and assist in a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures.

  • Interpret ECG waveforms, including lethal arrhythmias and signs of myocardial infarction or chamber enlargement; intervene per ACLS protocols when necessary.

  • Assist in the use and interpretation of advanced imaging techniques, including intravascular ultrasound, Doppler velocimetry, and cine angiographic projections.

  • Calculate and interpret hemodynamic parameters and cardiac pressure waveforms.

  • Identify coronary anatomy and support physicians during angioplasty (PTCA), atherectomy, and other complex procedures.

  • Prepare and manage the procedural table setup and required sterile supplies.

  • Operate and understand the full suite of cath lab fluoroscopy and imaging equipment.

  • Accurately document catheterization events and monitor patient status in real-time using specialized systems.

  • Perform ACT (Activated Clotting Time) testing, cardiac outputs, and Oโ‚‚ saturations.

  • Understand and assist in electrophysiologic studies, pacemaker implants, defibrillator placements, and therapeutic ablation procedures.

  • Recognize abnormal lab values (e.g., ABGs, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN, creatinine) and report to physicians promptly.

  • Demonstrate complete familiarity with cardiac medications (generic/trade names), their uses, dosages, and pharmacologic actions.

  • Lead and participate in special projects and relevant department committees as needed.

  • Support orientation and training of new staff and promote continuous learning and team development.

  • Uphold the highest standards of medical ethics, patient privacy, and safety throughout all clinical interactions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited Allied Health program in one of the following:

    • Cardiovascular Technology

    • Radiologic Technology

    • Respiratory Therapy

    • Cardiac or Vascular Sonography

    • Exercise Science or equivalent

  • Active RCIS, RCES, or ARRT certification with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) credential.

  • BLS certification (required at time of hire).

  • ACLS certification (required within 6 months of hire).

  • Previous hospital Cath Lab experience is required.

  • Proven scrub experience in a cardiac catheterization setting.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced cath lab environment.

  • Ability to lead or participate in training, special projects, or quality improvement initiatives.

  • Familiarity with cardiac-specific electronic documentation systems.

  • Comfortable taking call and responding to emergency cardiac procedures.

Location and Work Type:

  • On-site position based in Michigan.

  • This is a 13-week contract with the potential for extension.
