Position Overview:

Austin PBS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to join our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Intern. This role offers hands-on experience supporting core HR functions, with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and internship program coordination. The HR Intern will work closely with the HR Generalist to help support a positive employee and intern experience while gaining exposure to HR best practices in a nonprofit media organization. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in pursuing a career in human resources, organizational development, or nonprofit administration.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Internship Program Support: Assist in coordinating the Austin PBS internship program, including recruiting, onboarding, scheduling orientations, and communicating with interns and supervisors.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture: Help plan and execute employee and intern engagement initiatives, including professional development events, recognition programs, and internal communications.
  • Recruitment Support: Assist with posting job/internship openings, tracking applicants, scheduling interviews, and maintaining recruiting records.
  • HR Administration: Provide administrative support including document preparation, maintaining personnel records, and ensuring data accuracy across internal systems.
  • Communications & Content: Support development of HR-related communications, such as newsletters, onboarding materials, and intern handbooks.
  • Training & Development: Assist in the creation and implementation of training programs for new employees or managers.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student (preferably majoring in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field).
  • Current undergraduate student, must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program during the full duration of the internship
  • Student must be available for a minimum of 13 weeks of this internship
  • Internship will be in-person, with some hybrid work
  • Interest in human resources, organizational culture, recruitment, or nonprofit management.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, and social media platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
