Position Scope:

The Finance Manager leads the dealershipโ€™s finance and deal-structuring function, guiding a team responsible for creating compliant, profitable, and customer-focused financial solutions. It oversees the full lifecycle of sales financingโ€”including structuring deals, preparing and submitting applications, managing documentation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and lender requirements. The position acts as a senior financial advisor to both customers and the sales team, strengthening relationships with Cat Financial and other lending partners to secure competitive terms and timely funding. Through performance tracking and process optimization, this role ensures operational excellence, risk mitigation, and improved sales outcomes across the dealership.

RequirementsKnowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Bilingual, Spanish & English
  • Understanding of basic financing principles, deal structures, and how financial decisions impact customer value and organizational profitability.
  • General knowledge of legal, procedural, and risk-mitigation requirements related to financial transactions and customer documentation.
  • Ability to manage detailed paperwork, maintain accuracy, and oversee smooth workflow across multiple steps in the sales and financing process.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly with customers, internal teams, and external partners while resolving issues and building trust.
  • Skill in leading teams, interpreting performance data, and driving process improvements to support operational efficiency and organizational goals.
Education Requirements:

Bachelorโ€™s degree with a concentration in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.

Equivalent work experience in sales support, finance, lending, or equipment dealership operations may be substituted in place of a degree.

Additional training or certifications in credit, finance, or compliance are a plus.

Essential Job Functions:Deal Structuring & Sales Support
  • Manage and guide the finance representatives responsible for performing all deal structuring and compliance tasks, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across the team.
  • Work with Sales Representatives to structure deals that meet customer needs and dealer profitability goals.
  • Support sales reps in closing deals, overcoming objections, and presenting value messages tied to total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Ensure all required compliance checks are completed for every dealโ€”including lien searches, lien clearance, and other risk mitigation steps
Lead the Financing Process (Cat Financial + Other Lenders)
  • Lead, manage, and coach the finance representatives who prepare and process all financing documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency across all transactions.
  • Prepare and submit finance applications to Cat Financial and alternative lenders (banks, lease companies, municipal finance partners), while overseeing and guiding reps who perform these same tasks.
  • Align each deal with Caterpillar Financial Servicesโ€™ current programs, seasonal specials, lease structures, and incentives, ensuring finance reps follow the same standards.
  • Negotiate approvals, terms, and conditions to match customer credit profiles and mentor and train sales reps in these areas
  • Advise customers on financing solutionsโ€”directly and through the team you leadโ€”including:
  • Installment loans
  • Finance leases
  • Cat Card
  • Governmental/municipal financing packages
  • Rental Purchase Options (RPOs)
Manage Documentation & Delivery Requirements
  • Lead and oversee the finance representatives responsible for preparing, collecting, and processing all deal documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance throughout the sales and financing process.
  • Oversee complete, accurate documentation for:
  • Sales contracts
  • Lease agreements
  • UCC filings
  • RPO conversions
  • Customer insurance requirements
  • Government bidding documentation
  • Communicate proactively with customers to explain documentation requirements, collect necessary records, clarify any missing information, and ensure all signatures and approvals are obtained.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Sales Representatives to provide clear visibility into where each deal stands within the finance and sales workflow, including outstanding items, funding status, and timeline for equipment delivery.
  • Review, approve, and sign off on completed deal packets to authorize billing, ensuring all financial, compliance, and documentation standards are fully met before processing.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Protect the Dealership From Risk
  • Maintain full compliance with all federal, state, and industry regulations, including Truth in Lending, OFAC, Red Flags, privacy rules, and required disclosures.
  • Ensure proper document storage, secure handling of customer information, and adherence to all dealer and CAT Financial compliance standards.
  • Prevent fraudulent or high risk transactions by validating customer identity, residence, income, and business legitimacy as required.
  • Confirm that proper insurance coverage is in place before delivery and that all lender required conditions (stips) are satisfied.
  • Identify and correct incomplete, inaccurate, or non compliant documentation to protect the dealership from financial, legal, and reputational risk.
Customer & Lender Relationship Management
  • Act as a senior financial advisor throughout the sales process, guiding customers through financing, leasing, tax considerations, and total cost of ownership (TCO) impacts in clear, customer friendly language.
  • Communicate proactively with customers to ensure a smooth, transparent experience from application to funding, reducing delays and improving satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Caterpillar Financial, as well as banks, leasing companies, credit unions, and municipal finance partners, ensuring open communication, fast turnaround times, and access to competitive financing solutions.
  • Collaborate with lending partners to resolve application issues, negotiate terms, and secure approvals that best support both customer needs and dealer profitability.
  • Ensure faster, smoother funding and equipment delivery by coordinating effectively with customers, lenders, and internal teams.
Report & Track Key Performance Metrics
  • Monitor, analyze, and review sales department financial results with management to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, ensuring alignment with dealer profitability goals.
Leadership Responsibilities:

This role provides direction, coaching, and performance management for the finance team, ensuring consistent processes, high accuracy, and strong customer support across all transactions. It fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by setting clear expectations, developing team capabilities, and driving alignment with organizational goals.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite is required. Salesforce and DBS experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products and commercial lending practices.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be able to pass background check, physical exam and drug screening test.

Work Environment:

Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, employees must be careful while performing onsite services.
