Job description

Although located at the SEWS Bowling Green Administrative Office,this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in-office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least four days in the office each week but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who is looking to expand their impact across a broad range of HR functions including associate relations, recruiting, organizational development, communications, and associate engagement.

While based in our Bowling Green Administrative Office, this position will support HR initiatives at facilities located in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky. Limited travel of approximately 5-10% will be required as needed.

The HR Specialist will serve as a trusted resource to management and associates by fostering a positive work environment, ensuring consistent application of company policies and compliance requirements, and supporting programs that enhance associate morale, workforce development, and community involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Human Resources representative for SEWS Lexington and Louisville facilities, supporting associate relations and promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to management regarding associate relations issues, workplace concerns, and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage full-cycle recruiting activities, including sourcing, interviewing, reference checks, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and benefits enrollment to ensure a smooth and positive associate experience.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee associate engagement activities, company events, and community involvement initiatives designed to enhance morale and workplace culture.
  • Coordinate workplace safety programs, including Safety Committee activities, accident prevention efforts, safety training, incident reporting, and investigations.
  • Maintain OSHA-compliant safety records and administer workers' compensation documentation and reporting.
  • Write, edit, and coordinate internal and external communications including announcements, newsletters, website content, and press releases.
  • Maintain relationships with community organizations, local leaders, and media representatives to support community relations and public relations initiatives.
  • Administer the company's Spirit for Education Scholarship Program, ensuring fair and consistent evaluation and selection processes.
  • Support organizational development initiatives and strategic HR planning projects.
  • Assist with special projects and other HR-related initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a closely related field required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
  • Experience working with HRIS systems, preferably ADP
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems, preferably Jobvite
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, including InDesign and Photoshop
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with associates, management, customers, vendors, and external partners
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information
  • Ability to travel approximately 5-10% as needed
