The Business Development Representative will, represent the Premium Line Transport division in Canada while actively selling Vortex Group's U.S. and Mexico services, working closely with the VP of Sales and the President of Premium Line when not traveling or meeting customers in person.

Job Overview: We're looking to hire a Business Development Representative, who will be in a hybrid position that combines consultative salesand account management responsibilities. The successful candidate will manage and grow existing accounts while generating new business opportunities across the Vancouver market. A strong background in logistics, procurement, or supply chain is an asset. This role is fully onsite at our Vancouver office when not meeting with customers, with standard hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Independently drive new sales through proactive outreach and relationship building.
  • Source new leads daily, including cold calling and leveraging Inside Sales and Dormant Account lists.
  • Complete 5-10 prospecting calls per day when not traveling.
  • Maintain accurate CRM entries (calls, emails, notes, deals, leads, calendar) with a minimum of 10 entries per day.
  • Work with the VP of Sales and team members to crosssell services across Canada, USA, and Mexico.
  • Schedule and conduct weekly inperson meetings to promote services across North America.
  • Manage accounts to retain existing business and expand share of wallet.
  • Monitor and communicate competitor activity, service changes, and industry trends.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop relationships with prospective clients.
  • Stay informed on market conditions to create competitive, marginenhancing offers.
  • Drive yearoveryear profitable revenue through opportunity recognition.
  • Actively support division growth and help exceed team goals.
  • Identify opportunities within existing accounts to introduce additional services.
  • Gather information and make strong, independent business decisions.
  • Work with team members and leadership on pricing strategies.
  • Participate in sales meetings and assist senior management with goals, targets, and forecasting.
  • Serve as the primary link between customers and the Customer Service Department (CSD).
  • Conduct monthly calls to assess needs and maintain strong relationships.
  • Complete 10 followup calls per week to support account engagement.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's purchasing, logistics, and planning functions.
  • Participate in operational meetings to share client feedback and align on service improvements.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Proven ability to understand client needs, propose tailored solutions, and build longterm relationships.
  • Strong capability to negotiate pricing, service terms, and agreements with customers and carriers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for discovery calls, client meetings, and relationship building.
  • Experience in logistics, transportation, procurement, or supply chain strongly preferred.
  • Background in sales, business development, or account management with a track record of revenue growth.
  • Comfortable using CRM tools (SalesNow or similar) to log calls, emails, meetings, and pipeline activity.
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through cold calling, networking, and lead generation.
  • Skilled at cultivating strong social and professional relationships with key decision
  • Ability to gather market intel, understand competitor activity, and identify opportunities or threats.
  • Thrives with limited local supervision and can manage time, travel, and priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to travel across Vancouver for client visits and prospect meetings.
  • Capable of identifying issues, proposing solutions, and collaborating with leadership on corrective actions.
  • A 4-year or 2-year college degree in business, operations, and/or sales is preferred, but not required
  • Bilingual English/Spanishis an asset.
