Description
Due to recent promotions, the City of Springfield's Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for Professional Engineer (with option to underfill as Engineer III, Engineer II, and Engineer I) in the Traffic Engineering Division.
Responsibilities for the Traffic Engineering position will include developing and analyzing planning studies such as traffic impact studies, traffic volume and speed studies, safety studies and crash data analysis, parking studies; designing and managing projects for traffic calming, sidewalks, and intersection improvements; and reviewing development plans for code compliance and access management. Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
Professional Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;

AND
  • Four years of experience in engineering work.
  • Engineering experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area required for current vacancy.

Engineer III (Underfill option):
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;

AND
  • Three years progressively responsible engineering experience;
  • Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of registration for Professional Engineers within probationary period;
  • Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for the EI certification.
Engineer II (Underfill Option):
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;

AND
  • Two years progressively responsible engineering experience;
  • Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the required work experience.
Engineer I (Underfill Option):
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;

Licensing/Certification
  • Must possess a Professional Engineer's license for Professional Engineer;
  • Must possess MO license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.
