Client Developer

Requisition Number: 2026-1130-05A


S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Client Developer to lead business development initiatives and support the ongoing success of S&ME's environmental, geotechnical, and construction materials testing teams out of our Charleston, South Carolina office.


As a Client Developer, you will partner closely with Project Management, Communications, and Marketing teams to build new client connections while enhancing existing partnerships. You'll contribute to initiatives and growth strategies that support continued expansion and elevate the success of S&ME's Charleston office and its clients.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with local leadership and team members to create and execute initiatives that drive individual performance and support overall office revenue objectives.
  • Client & Market Development: Serve as a representative of the company within the local market by cultivating current client partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, and increasing brand presence. Participate in industry organizations and networking groups to support continued growth.
  • Marketing Support: Coordinate local marketing efforts, including sponsorship opportunities, events, and social media activities that enhance community engagement and brand recognition.
  • Proposal Assistance: Support the development and submission of proposals and Statements of Qualifications (SOQs/RFQs) to help secure new projects and expand client relationships.
  • Coaching & Team Development: Lead recurring business development discussions and mentor project managers and staff to strengthen client engagement and business development capabilities.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, construction, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of technical and/or business development experience within the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries (candidates with significantly more years' experience encouraged to apply)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Existing relationships with various A/E/C industry Designers, Contractors, and Owners
  • Ability to increase sales opportunities for S&ME, achieve a sales target, and grow the Nashville office

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

The willingness and ability to travel, using personal vehicles for use during company business, which may sometimes occur during evenings and on weekends
