Job description

About The Role
As a Staff Developer Relations Engineer, you serve as a technical anchor for our developer platform enablement. You are the primary bridge between SailPoint's core product engineering teams and the global developer ecosystem. You will spend your time architecting robust developer tooling (SDKs, CLI, workflows), establishing and maintaining API governance standards, leading high-profile developer streams, and architecting and developing projects for the SailPoint developer community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ecosystem Engineering: Lead the architectural design and implementation of core developer SDKs, CLI tools, and extensibility patterns.
  • Developer Community Leadership: Design and lead interactive technical livestreams, deliver presentations at developer events, and create reference architectures.
  • Cross-Functional DX Advocacy: Work closely with Product Managers and Core Engineering leaders to represent community trends, communicate developer telemetry, and influence the core API architecture.
  • Technical Standards: Set code quality, testing, and documentation standards for all community developer-facing code repositories and open-source contributions.

Requirements
  • 8-10+ years of experience in software engineering, API design, or developer-focused engineering.
  • Strong expertise in building open-source SDKs, API generators, and developer CLI tools.
  • Outstanding customer-facing skills with the ability to confidently navigate complex architectural discussions with external stakeholders.

Preferred
  • Experience with React, Typescript, GoLang, Python, PowerShell, and more.
  • Knowledge of the Identity Security Landscape, including experience implementing SailPoint solutions.
  • Exceptional technical communication skills, with a track record of running developer-facing video content, livestreams, or community events.
  • Familiarity with leveraging Generative AI tools.

First 30 days
  • Ramp quickly on Developer Relations tools and roadmap.
  • Contribute meaningful improvements (reliability, performance, or design quality).
  • Build strong working relationships with key partner teams.

By 90 days
  • Own one major SDK initiative end to end.
  • Publish and align a technical strategy for your domain with partner teams.
  • Raise design and execution quality through reviews, standards, and clear technical direction.

By 6 months
  • Deliver at least one cross-team, high-impact program with measurable product and engineering outcomes.
  • Establish durable architecture and operating practices that improve reliability, cost, and delivery speed.
  • Be able to interact with the Developer community at the next major company event.

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint's differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):
$133,100 - $224,436.00
Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee's home location.
