The Opportunity
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Project Team in Kingston, NY . In this role, you will Manages multiple OEM projects from order process to startup including the coordination of materials and personnel within JBT, with external suppliers, and on-site at customer locations. Manages the detailed technical schedule and financial performance of the project to deliver a quality product on time and within the project budget. Serve as the primary internal contact for Customers, Engineering, Sales, Service, Manufacturing, and Purchasing for the life cycle of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in established proposal/budget/project review meetings with multiple departments, including Product Line Director, Product Manager, Applications Engineering, Design Engineering, Operations, Sales, and others. In these meetings, Applications Engineering defines the configuration, and you/applicant/employee identifies possible risks of the project in the quotation stage. The goal of these reviews is to help ensure a satisfied customer and to achieve booked gross margin dollar targets.
- Track project progress, cost, financial performance.
- You will be the primary contact between JBT Marel and the customer upon Order Entry. Manage customer expectations for scope of work, project schedule, and buyer/seller responsibilities. Confirm customer's agreement/completion of their mechanical and production startup responsibilities. Build and maintain a positive relationship with customers and suppliers associated with assigned projects.
- Co-develops and then manages project schedules to ensure on-time completion of contractually required project milestones. These milestones include final delivery of equipment, installation, mechanical start-up, and production start-up. Participates in onsite customer kick-off meetings and pre-installation meetings for projects as needed and as appropriate. The purpose of these meetings is to eliminate confusion, mitigate risk, clarify expectations, and ensure the customer has all necessary information to achieve a successful project.
- Participates onsite as needed and as appropriate to achieve project success. Resolves field installation problems by maintaining close contact with customers, applications engineering, Customer Care, warehouse, supplier, and others as needed. Is responsible for managing and communicating the active punch list of issues during a project installation phase. Coordinates timely corrective action with internal and external resources while minimizing cost impact to the project. Arranges change orders as appropriate.
- Learns and masters the current ERP system (Syteline) and any changes therein. Ensures that project cost tracking and forecasted spending are updated in the ERP systems accurately and on a timely basis. Provides a monthly forecast of expected project completion, costs, COV and final gross margin. Arranges a pos project reviews. Measures customer satisfaction with the order to start up process. Evaluate all task margins/issues. Creates and implements long term corrective actions plans in collaboration with Engineering Leadership. Routes warranty issues to Product Manager and Director.
- Responsible for updating CAD Drawings and assisting with site layout configuration
Requirements / Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong organizational, negotiating, planning and influencing skills, verbal and written

Minimum three years' experience with Project Management in a capital equipment environment.
Preferred
- BS Degree in Engineering or Project Management
- Certification in Project Management (PMP through PMI or equivalent)
- Knowledge of industrial food processing environment
- Technical background in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, and service disciplines
- Working knowledge Syteline 9 business system software
- Ability to establish relationships and support Customer Care and Applications Engineering teams at site with suppliers and parts
- Minimum three years' experience with Project Management in a capital equipment environment.
COMPENSATION RANGE: $101,250 - $129,000 - Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
Scope of Responsibility/Accountability:
Receive directions from manager to set broad goals. Shows creativity and new ideas in. Meet quality requirements without sacrificing safety, cost and delivery goals. Work with multiple departments to recommend methods to control job cost and non-conformances. Must be willing to travel to site to assist with project execution and pre-installation and required.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Direct some aspects of field technician task work on a dotted line basis during equipment installation and startup activities. Manage non-JBT Marel site crews on a direct basis during the equipment build and installation process.
Financial Responsibility:
Project sales value averages $1.0 million each. Manage approximately 5-15 projects at any given time.
Work Environment and Physical Demands require a willingness to travel. This travel will be to customer sites, predominantly in the US, Mexico, and Canada, and will average up to 50% of the time. The purpose of this travel is to assist with project pre-installation meetings and active installations. Estimate on average 50% of time in an office or meeting environment. Travel can be sporadic. Exposed to possible hazards, including heavy equipment and shop traffic, workers face risks. Uneven and slippery footing, inclement weather, and other hazards are also present. Sites typically have indoor environments that are often wet and refrigerated to a temperature of 30-40 F. Installation sites require appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including JBT Marel and Customer PPE. This PPE includes a hard hat, Steel Toe Shoes, safety glasses, hair nets, lab coats, and gloves, with no jewelry of any kind allowed.
Physical Demands: Frequent sitting and operating computer. Frequent walking and standing. It is necessary to spend time in a field environment. This is where you meet with customers, engineers, suppliers, account managers, field technicians, and others. You need to manage project scope, site conditions, schedule, and cost in this environment. Additionally, you must resolve critical supplier or installation problems. This fast-paced environment demands that you manage it by walking the factory floor to assess and resolve multiple priorities, constant change and a variety of equipment, process and other problems.
