Developer Marketing Manager information

What is a developer marketing manager?

A Developer Marketing Manager is a professional responsible for creating and executing marketing strategies aimed at software developers and technical audiences. They bridge the gap between a company’s products and the developer community by promoting tools, APIs, and platforms in ways that resonate with developers. Their work often involves producing technical content, organizing developer events, and building relationships with developer influencers. The goal is to increase product adoption and community engagement by understanding and addressing the unique needs of developers.

How does a developer marketing manager typically collaborate with product and engineering teams?

A Developer Marketing Manager works closely with both product and engineering teams to ensure marketing initiatives accurately reflect technical features and address developer needs. This collaboration often involves participating in product roadmap discussions, translating technical updates into engaging content, and gathering feedback from the developer community to inform future product enhancements. Regular meetings and cross-functional projects are common, requiring strong communication skills and a good grasp of technical concepts to bridge marketing and development effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a developer marketing manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Developer Marketing Manager, you need a strong understanding of software development concepts, product positioning, and experience with go-to-market strategies, often backed by a degree in marketing, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with technical content creation, CRM platforms, analytics tools, and marketing automation systems is essential. Exceptional communication, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to empathize with developer audiences are standout soft skills. These skills are crucial for effectively bridging the gap between technical products and developer communities, ensuring successful adoption and engagement.

Job description

Description:

WHO WE ARE

Digital Mass is a Salesforce consulting firm built to answer enterprise complexity. We specialize in Sales

Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Pardot, and MuleSoft — and we don’t shy away from the

technical challenges of other systems.

Fortune 500 companies turn to us when they need clean, scalable architecture delivered fast. Our

LeanSF methodology skips the fluff and ships working code. We embed directly with our clients, exceed

goals through grit and coding acumen, and transform how Salesforce works for businesses with a

no-bullshit approach and a relentless focus on outcomes.

We’re building a team of people who think outside the sandbox — Salesforce Developers, Marketing

Cloud Developers, Account Executives, and Doers.

THE ROLE

We’re hiring a Digital Marketing Manager to own and elevate every marketing motion at Digital Mass.

You’ll be the thought leader behind our digital strategy — the one who builds the engine for brand

awareness, lead generation, and customer engagement, and then keeps it running.

We’re ready to invest in our brand, and we want someone with the craft to protect it. You’ll drive

campaigns across channels, partner closely with sales, sweat the details on creative, and use data to

sharpen what’s working and kill what isn’t. The best work in this role will look like precision dressed up as

personality.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Execute the strategy. Working with a fractional CMO and our agency partner, you’ll be responsible

for delivering our marketing plan and driving customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.

Run the campaigns. Manage and optimize paid advertising across search, social, display, and

email — with a sharp eye on ROI.

Event planning. Help Sales run our events — from our Midwest Dreamin’ sponsorship to company

outings, customer appreciation dinners, and everything in between.

Enable and organize pre-sales materials. Work with our sales team to generate presentations and

leverage marketing content, and lead demand gen efforts that produce sales enablement materials

— one-pagers, sell sheets, and anything else the team needs to win deals.

Make the content. Create and manage engaging content for our website, blog, social channels, and

email — content that sounds like us, not like everyone else.

Read the room. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to spot trends and uncover

opportunities for growth.

Measure everything. Track KPIs, analyze performance, and turn data into the kind of

recommendations leadership can act on.

Align with the org. Partner with solution management, development, and sales to keep marketing

tied to real business outcomes.

Stay current. Keep pace with what’s next in SEO, SEM, social, and email — and bring the best of it

back to the team.

Run the projects. Manage marketing project workflows internally and externally, including agency

deliverables and vendor relationships.

WHAT YOU BRING

5+ years of marketing management experience, with a proven track record in a similar role.

Excellent written and verbal communication — you can write copy that sells without sounding like it’s

selling. (Writing samples will be requested.)

A solid grasp of digital marketing strategies, channels, and the tools that power them.

Hands-on experience managing and optimizing paid campaigns (Google Ads, SEO, LinkedIn, etc.)

and event campaigns.

Fluency in analytics tools — Google Analytics, Google Ads, SEMrush, and the like — with the ability

to turn dashboards into decisions.

Sharp analytical and problem-solving instincts.

Self-activated leadership — motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize without a

roadmap drawn for you.

Core skills: creative briefs, multi-channel marketing, and digital marketing fundamentals.

The ability to articulate Digital Mass’s value, partnership impact, and offerings in a way that lands.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to bring structure to a wide field of moving information.

Comfort interacting with leaders and teammates at every level — professionally and with presence.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

Experience inside an IT or business consulting environment.

Exposure to the Salesforce platform.

Service marketing experience — though strong product marketing translates.

Marketing leadership in a startup or small-firm environment, where you wore more than one hat.

BENEFITS & PERKS

Digital Mass is proud to offer employees and their families a robust benefits package, including:

Generous PTO (accrue 120 hours in your first year) and nine paid holidays.

Parental leave.

401(k) with match — no waiting period.

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage with options to fit your life.

Referral and rewards programs, growth training, continuing education, and performance bonus

opportunities.

Monthly parking stipend, mentorships, company-sponsored events, and a fully stocked kitchen.

THE OFFICE

We work in-office five days per week from our beautifully renovated North Loop space in Minneapolis. We

believe our best work happens through onsite collaboration and the kind of real-time connection that’s

hard to replicate over a screen.

Ready to think outside the sandbox?

We’d like to meet you.
