Job description

As the Batteries Segment Marketing Manager, you will apply advanced scientific, engineering, and marketanalysis expertise to define and execute the global strategic growth plan for TA Instruments’ Batteries segment. The role requires deep technical understanding of battery materials, electrochemical systems, and analytical instrumentation to translate complex customer research and market data into product and commercialization strategies.

The position will primarily focus on the Batteries end-market segment, including Lithium-ion technologies and emerging innovations such as solid-state electrolytes/batteries, dry-electrode processing, and non-Li-ion chemistries. This role addresses global markets across North America, Europe, and Asia, requiring deep understanding of regional battery manufacturing ecosystems and technology trends.

This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Segment Marketing and works cross-functionally with Global & Regional Marketing, Research, Product Management, and Sales teams to drive marketing initiatives, commercialization activities, and new product development.


Marketing Leadership

  • Develop scientifically informed marketing strategies connecting analytical characterization techniques with battery materials science and electrochemical performance metrics.
  • Partner with Global Applications teams to develop scientific collateral that demonstrates the use of analytical instrumentation for studying battery-specific applications (e.g., slurry formulation, thermal behavior, electrolyte stability)
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Product Management team to ensure successful commercialization of new product releases by driving customer engagement in the batteries segment.
  • Independently lead and synthesize VoiceofCustomer (VOC) insights from interviews with battery scientists and R&D leaders and translate into actionable inputs for instrumentation development

Strategic Growth Planning

  • Build and manage the strategic growth plan for the Batteries segment using strong market knowledge, emerging trends, and competitive insights.
  • Lead VoiceofCustomer (VOC) activities and synthesize findings into actionable insights for research, product roadmaps, and marketing campaigns.
  • Conduct macromarket assessments across key regions, quantify market size, and estimate growth rates.
  • Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and develop scientific thoughtleadership partnerships.
  • Identify potential commercial relationships and business development opportunities to support revenue growth.

New Product Development

  • Prioritize and articulate customer needs to initiate research and development projects in collaboration with Research and Product Management.
  • Assess market opportunity (TAM, SAM, SOM) for new research and product development initiatives based on VOC, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Support Research and Product Management teams in validating market opportunities and defining customer requirements for new projects.

  • Master’s degree or higher (e.g., Ph.D.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or a closely related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience of experience in battery materials research, battery manufacturing process development, or technical commercialization
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation such as thermal analysis, rheology, or related techniques is desirable
  • Business/ strategy development experience within the Batteries industry or adjacent fields
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to lead projects from concept to execution
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to adjust strategies based on market and performance insights
  • Ability to effectively influence at the executive level and within peer group 
  • Effective interpersonal, collaboration & networking skills
  • Fluency in Chinese, Korean, or Japanese is desirable to support APAC region
