Engineering Manager

SZNS Solutions LLC

Reston, VA โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

"SZNS Solutions (pronounced "seasons") is a technology consulting company and Google Cloud Partner based in Reston VA. We specialize in delivering agentic AI and cloud computing solutions. Founded by ex-Googlers with engineers from Google, Amazon, and Capital One, SZNS differentiates itself particularly in AI, data engineering, blockchain, and cloud-native software application development.โ€

Role Summary

Our mission is to build a different kind of technology consulting firmโ€”one focused on doing, showing, and building more than talking. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead our talented engineering team and work closely with leadership to bridge the gap between technical strategy and day-to-day execution.

At SZNS, the bar is high. A successful engineering manager should exude the three tenets:

  • Customer obsession: A no-nonsense, fast, and flexible approach where solving the customer's problem always comes first.
  • Calm and consistent under pressure, with the strong judgment required to balance delivery speed against architectural quality.
  • Attentive results: A focus on delivering results through hard work and high quality, recognizing that attention to detail is what separates "great" from "good".

We are looking for a hands-on leader who can break down complex technical projects, mentor a high-performing team, and ensure that our Cloud, Data, and AI deployments meet our high bar for pragmatic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering delivery: Own day-to-day engineering delivery across multiple strategic client engagements and internal platform initiatives, ensuring that tasks are clear, prioritized, and progressing.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow teams: Building a culture of ownership, craft, and continuous improvement while increasing team autonomy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with product and technical leadership to break down, scope, and plan complex technical projects across our AI, GCP, and Web3 domains.
  • Identify and maintain high standards: Ensure excellent code quality, system performance, and maintainability by establishing best practices and guiding architectural decisions.
  • Ensure momentum: Proactively identify risks and escalate them early, improving team processes so that our delivery becomes faster and more predictable.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with prior experience formally leading developers, managing teams, or owning end-to-end technical delivery.
  • Strong foundation in system design, cloud architecture (preferably GCP), and backend engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience building and shipping production-quality code in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Active daily use of AI-enabled coding tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code) to accelerate development workflows and increase throughput.
  • Active Google Cloud certifications, or willingness to obtain within one month of joining.
  • Curiosity, experimentation with latest technologies, and bias for action.
  • U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth startups or professional services companies.
  • Background in managing teams working on AI/ML pipelines, LLM tooling, or Web3/blockchain integrations.
  • Experience improving messy or low-process environments and establishing agile delivery cycles.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Hybrid work environment (MWF in-person in our Reston office)
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities
