Reporting to the Head of Modem Engineering, the Senior Manager of Modem Engineering will lead an organization responsible for modem software delivery, firmware integration, platform enablement, and cellular feature development across multiple product programs.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering execution and strategic planning, partnering with product management, chipset vendors, ODMs, and global engineering stakeholders to deliver carrier-grade connectivity solutions What you will do: Partner with the Head of Modem Engineering to execute long-term modem technology and platform strategy across enterprise and industrial IoT products Lead and grow a high-performing modem engineering team through talent development, succession planning, and engineering best practices Own workforce planning, resource allocation, contractor management, and hiring plans for assigned programs Drive engineering operational excellence through metrics, process improvements, and automation investments Define and drive engineering execution plans, milestones, and resource allocation across products and future cellular platform initiatives Partner with Product Management to define roadmap priorities, feature commitments, and release planning Lead technical engagements with modem chipset partners, ODM vendors, carrier organizations, and strategic technology suppliers Drive cross-functional alignment across modem firmware, hardware, RF, platform software, cloud connectivity, and automation teams Build and scale modem automation, validation, and quality frameworks to improve test coverage and engineering efficiency Support carrier certification, interoperability testing, and commercialization activities Identify and proactively address engineering risks, resource gaps, and technical debt The skills you bring Required: 15+ years of experience in modem, wireless, embedded systems, telecommunications, or related engineering disciplines 5+ years of engineering management experience leading modem, wireless, or embedded software development teams Demonstrated track record delivering complex modem or embedded software programs across multiple product generations Strong experience leading cross-functional engineering organizations spanning firmware, hardware, platform, validation, and test disciplines Experience managing workforce planning, hiring, contractor strategies, and engineering resource allocation Experience with technical engagements involving modem chipset vendors, ODM partners, and carrier organizations Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical, business, and executive audiences Experience working within geographically distributed engineering organizations Preferred: Experience building and scaling modem automation, validation, and quality frameworks Familiarity with Linux kernel, embedded driver development, BSP integration, and platform bring-up Understanding of wireless/RF concepts, carrier certification processes, and interoperability testing Experience leading globally distributed and contractor-augmented engineering teams Experience with embedded or other leading chipset platforms Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field Support the growth of engineering talent through coaching, mentoring, and career development What happens once you apply. Santa Clara $235,500-294,500 Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan:Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus.
