Engineering Manager - Grand Rapids, MI

DISHER is currently partnering with a local coating company on their need for an experienced driven Engineering Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for team development, driving continuous improvement, and leading the launch of several key project initiatives.

What you'll get to do:
  • Lead strategic direction and vision of the manufacturing processes for the organization (new opportunities, equipment selection, process inputs) through new technologies, processes and techniques  
  • Develop and implement automation projects to reduce direct labor costs
  • Drive continuous improvement culture within the manufacturing and technical teams through the use of key performance indicators to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost 
  • Collect, organize, utilize, and analyze data within and around the manufacturing process to aid in variation reduction, problem solving and continuous improvements
  • Utilize ERP/MPR systems (Plex) as well as other statistical and data analysis tools
  • Ensure performance accountability through mentoring, coaching, and performance review/feedback of engineering staff
  • Responsible for environmental and hazardous waste compliance
  • Communicate and consult with customers in the areas of engineering, quality, and business 
  • Lead project management activities for quotation and launch new business
  • Responsible for the maintenance department and resources to ensure the facility and production equipment meets or exceeds regulatory, business, and operational requirements
  • Key contributor and member of the safety committee. Responsible for execution and accountability of the safety systems (policies, procedures, and forms) for the departments responsible for.
What will make you successful:
  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering or technical related field of study.
  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience with 5 in as an engineering manager
  • Previous experience with leading and implementing automation projects
  • Strong experience and use of ERP/MRP software, Microsoft office and CAD, Minitab
  • Experience leading DOE projects, SPC analysis, and Lean Six Sigma initiatives
  • Has good written and oral communication, inter-personal and conflict resolution skills
  • Previous experience mentoring, coaching, and building collaborative teams
  • Strong working knowledge and use of mathematical, reasoning and in-depth problem solving skills
  • Knowledgeable interpreting financial statements and budgets 
  • Previous experience working in an ISO 9001 or other regulated environment
