Engineering Manager Job Description and Responsibilities
  • Hire, supervise, support and develop engineering team, 5-10 direct reports.
  • Assist engineering project management team as needed learning all aspects of the team's responsibilities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Assess current SOPs and workflows identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure projects are completed efficiently, correctly, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with outside vendors from various engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain relationships and manage expectations with engineering consultants and software vendors.
  • Review engineering work for accuracy and ensuring compliance with engineering principles.
  • Review RFPs and contract documents.
  • Act as liaison with Project Management on matters relating to engineering progress, quality, scope issues on projects as well as interface with customers on technical questions/concerns.
  • Research latest technologies and best practices.
Engineering Manager Skills and Requirements
  • Integrity and enthusiasm.
  • Self-motivated and able to operate effectively in a small, fast-moving team.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of PV commercial/utility design engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience.
  • Masters Degree in related engineering discipline preferred.
  • PE license in relevant field highly desired.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable leading technical conversations.
  • Commercially fluentโ€”comfortable with cost modeling and quoting projects.
