The Expertise We're Looking For

  • Significant experience leading/managing a team in one or more of the following areas strongly desired: email development, digital production, marketing technology, or digital marketing.

  • Email channel expertise very strongly desired but not a hard requirement. Will train the right candidate who has excellent team leadership/management experience and top tier analytical and project management skills

  • Email service platform provider (ESP) knowledge, systems, information technology a big plus (specifically Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Sales Cloud, Simon Data, Segment CDP)

  • Basic HTML skills required; basic SQL skills a plus

  • Excellent PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word and presentation skills required

  • Curious and intellectually honest. Dedication to personal and team continuous growth, development, and improvement

  • Enjoy tracking, triaging, and solving issues in real-time

  • Ability to continuously develop and improve process / infrastructure within a constantly evolving team

The Purpose of Your Role

As an Email Engineering Director within the central marketing function of Fidelity Personal Investments the purpose of your role is to deepen the relationship with millions of our customers by leading a team using data to plan and execute personal, relevant and timely promotional, service and regulatory email communications. In this capacity, you will serve as Fidelity's Center of Excellence on current and emerging practices that power our customer obsessed email marketing programs while empowering team members to achieve business and personal goals.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 12+ years of experience or master's degree with 10+ years of experience

  • Excellent project management, time management, and organization skills with a proven ability to successfully plan, manage and (re)prioritize multiple complex projects, programs and campaigns simultaneously and foresee/mitigate potential risks

  • Process and detail-oriented thinker who provides clear direction and maintains clear communication with others about the work and results

  • Adept at building relationships across all management levels in a highly matrixed environment, leading and collaborating on cross-functional teams, and influencing direction where there isn't explicit authority. Act as primary liaison between internal business and tech teams to resolve various project and technology challenges.

  • Assess, train, and motivate people both internally (associates) and externally (job applicants). Optimize productivity by promoting professional growth.

  • Able to lead by demonstrating and establishing clarity, effectively communicating, and reinforcing the value of collaboration in enhancing team's performance and development

  • Ability to think strategically and assess strategy and requirements while implementing tactically on multiple major initiatives simultaneously.

  • Provide guidance and lead training to enable other team members to meet/exceed expectations. Responsible for managing a team of individual contributors for performance management activities.

The Value You Deliver

The Email Engineering Director will liaise across multiple teams to:

  • Plan and execute email campaigns from campaign strategy and requirements through deployment - scheduled campaigns, automated triggers, Journey Builder and automated multi-touch campaigns

  • Build and edit email code and logic using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Content Builder and AMPscripting tools

  • Collaborate with technology teams to onboard new email programs and content to the email platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), acting as the voice of the business

  • Lead and/or support cross-organizational projects as a subject matter expert for email channel, including but not limited to: template specifications, technical design, channel best practice, executional process and principles, data feed analysis, and platform capabilities

The Email Engineering Director will lead and empower a team of Digital Campaign Managers to achieve business and personal goals.

How Your Work Impacts the Organization

The Email Engineering and Marketing Orchestration (EEMO) team works cross-functionally to support the end-to-end enablement and implementation of Fidelity emails. Additionally, the team provides leadership/support to enhance process/procedure efficiency for email programs, and collaborates with partners to drive program/campaign effectiveness through capability enablement, implementation design, customer journey mapping, channel reporting, etc.
