Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Department: Nursing

Reports To: Subacute Detox Nurse Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned,

1. Follows established standards of nursing practices and implements facility policies and procedures

2. Interpret existing policies and procedures to charge nurses, client assistants, clients, families, and physicians

3. Supervises and evaluates all direct client care and initiates corrective action as necessary

4. Make frequent rounds in the facility

5. Obtain report from nurse he/she is relieving and records sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary.

6. Provide report to nurse coming on duty, including sufficient information for follow-up action if necessary

7. Knowledgeably and competently perform basic nursing skills

8. Identify client problems and emergency situations and initiates and immediate plan of action according to facility policies and procedures

9. Follow, supervise, and evaluate the implementation of the Client Rights program

10. Follow admission procedures and communicates client admissions to other departments, physicians and ancillary service providers

11. Provide clinical supervision of client assistant

12. Assist with covering staffing and making calls to cover any staff call offs

13. Participate in the employee evaluation process by providing information on the clinical performance of client assistants

14. Receive medication delivery from pharmacy, checks and documents medications received

15. Administer and document a comprehensive assessment of each client as needed or assigned

16. Assist with the development of an accurate and comprehensive treatment plan based on the client needs

17. Plans, facilitates, and documents treatment groups in accordance with clients treatment plan.

18. Administer PRN medications and treatments as necessary

19. Notify the physician, when necessary, of changes in clients conditions, weight, medication errors, medication not available, abnormal lab/x-ray results and any other unusual observations

20. Document client care provided and the clients response or lack of response to care provided

21. Personally obtain continuing education 22. Supervise response to clients calls for assistance

23. Follow facility discharge/transfer procedure and coordinates discharge/transfer with other departments, physicians, and ancillary service providers

24. Possess clear written and verbal communication skills

25. Act as a charge nurse and cover the floor/various shifts as needed for the best interest of the facility

26. Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Subacute Detox Nurse Manager

28. Supports and assists in crisis intervention and at all other times deemed appropriate in a manner consistent with SMR policies and procedures.

29. Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of Silver Maple Recoverys policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan, State Licensing standards, and managed care regulations

Current CPR and First Aid certificate

Current TB test

Valid drivers license

RN license

Must be able to lift 50 to 75lbs. Raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This requirement occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles

Must be able to balance, limb, crouch, grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach, stand and stoop adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.

Must be able to read and write the English language

Must be able to work inside and outside with exposure to outdoor weather conditions
