Summary 

A Freight Forwarder Ocean Import is responsible for managing the importation and exportation of goods by ocean, including all aspects of the logistics process such as customs clearance, carrier booking, cargo tracking, documentation, delivery or pick up of goods, and communication with customers and third party service providers. This role involves coordinating with various parties including carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage the importation of goods by ocean, including customs clearance and delivery to the final destination 

  • Manage the exportation of goods by ocean, including carrier booking and managing the movement of goods through various transportation channels. 

  • Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of goods 

  • Prepare, process, submitrequired documentation for customs clearance, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other relevant paperwork 

  • Track and monitor shipments and provide regular updates to customers on the status of their shipments 

  • Manage relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise 

  • Collaborate with other internal departments, such as logistics, finance, and operations, to ensure timely and efficient service delivery 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade laws 

  • All other duties as assigned 

 

Educational background / Work experience 

  • Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred 

  • Experience in ocean import and export is highly desirable

For this position, the expected base pay range is $21.00 - $24.75 hourly.  Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
