Job description

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Product Management Manager - Government Solutions. This role is located in Washington, DC.

The Director, Product Management Manager - Government Solutions is an integral role within our Government Solutions team.  It focuses on delivering exceptional program solutions that align with the needs of our federal clients. This position is responsible for defining and executing product strategies, aligning PMO deliverables for federal programs, driving innovation and enhance client experiences - not just strategically but in the day to day. By leveraging deep federal practice knowledge and technical expertise, the Director, Product Management Manager - Government Solutions ensures that the design and delivery of government solutions align with BNY's commitment to operational excellence and client-centric services, contributing to the organization's strategic pillars of growth, operational efficiency, and client engagement.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Manages the Product Management function for a business unit and has oversight of the full complement of products within a key segment.  This can often include the overall PMO functions within a federal program, which BNY operates with a product/platform framework.  
  • Will be on one to many US federal government contracts as a single leader, driving application development, process design, architecture and general delivery outcomes.
  • Establishes the strategic approach for the development of a variety of products, services, and product lines and works with senior leaders to ensure functional strategies tie to business unit objectives. 
  • Guides staff in building the business case for firm offerings in the marketplace and ensures that the team stays on top of the competitive landscape and the industry environment. 
  • In collaboration with senior leaders, determines the key products of strategic importance to the firm and the long term goals for the function. 
  • Responsible for the growth and profitability of all federal products.
  • Manages the product life cycle from development through marketing. 
  • Evaluates suggested areas for enhancement or new/innovative features and determine the most viable options to pursue. 
  • Oversees complex environment of Security, Delivery, Engineering, Operational, and PMO workstreams delivering amazing results to our federal clients.  
  • Ensures implementation across all global products.
  • Determines overall strategic positioning and targeted client segments for all products.
  • Collaborates with peer managers in Relationship Management/Business Development/Account Management and Marketing teams to deliver on sales and market share goals. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work conducted by subordinate team aligns necessary government compliance, contracting, & regulatory requirements. 
  • Assists staff in navigating Risk, Legal or Compliance requirements.
  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. 
  • Provides feedback at the most critical times. Manages multiple teams. 
  • Work is accomplished through subordinate managers.
  • Develops and oversees the achievement of functional objectives and ensures they reflect and support business unit objectives. 
  • Manages the financial and human resources for the function.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following: 

  • Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred. 

  • 12+ years of total work experience with at least 3-5 years in management preferred. 

  • Securities or financial services experience preferred. 

  • Extensive experience running government contracts and government programs required.
