Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Maritime Market Director to join our dynamic Buildings Team, ideally located in our NYC or Miami office. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Buildings and is responsible for leading and managing multiple seller-doers within our Buildings Sector Maritime Market while driving the reputation of Woolpert through client satisfaction, revenue growth, and superior service delivery.   Qualified candidates will have strong leadership presence, exceptional organizational acumen and character, and a skillset that is directly impactful and equally influential. An emphasis is placed on achieving internal controls that assure alignment between plan, execution, delivery, and strategic objectives. Must collaborate effectively with all departments, vertically and laterally, ensuring all priorities are properly aligned. Success will be measured through professional development, market penetration, and targeted KPI's, with emphasis on gross sales and net revenue, established around Woolpert's Project Fundamentals and Strategic Plan. Candidates must have an extensive Maritime background and solid industry connections.

The Maritime Market covers a range of projects and client types, including public and private ports, both for cruise, cargo, bulk, and industrial commodities, maritime-related companies, including cruise lines, cargo terminal operators, third-party developers, and tourism developers.  In addition, the market also includes recreational marinas and marina-related development.  Work is worldwide, currently focusing in North America, Europe, and Australasia.

The Maritime Market covers all aspects of these developments, including strategic and tactical planning, engineering of harbors, piers, and marine infrastructure, design of port-related buildings such as cruise terminals, associate maritime buildings, destination development for cruise lines, market and financial studies.

What You Will Do:

As the Buildings Maritime Market Director at Woolpert, you will:

  • Create and assure conformance to a clear market development strategy within the Maritime Market and deliver on the Sector's sales, growth, and revenue objectives for all maritime projects, including cruise ports and terminal design, island destination planning, capacity and facility assessment planning, marine engineering, and cargo facilities.
  • Coordinate strategy with peers and colleagues from the Infrastructure and Geospatial Sectors.
  • Provide leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives with an emphasis on sales and growth.
  • Drive and own the Market's business plan to achieve market objectives that align with the sector and firm's strategies.
  • Build and deliver a trusted advisor reputation with Woolpert clients while growing revenue and profitability, building relationships by trust through competency, delivery, and thought leadership.
  • Become a subject matter expert of our client's business models while being the industry expert for Woolpert on all relevant market and financial data.
  • Achieve growth goals globally by building on existing business opportunities and securing new clients to expand wallet-share.
  • Build, develop, and manager a team of seller -doers who are focused on Maritime clients.
  • Manage multiple priorities while meeting Woolpert and Maritime Market, Buildings Sector needs.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum 15 years of leadership experience within the Maritime Market.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Achitecture. Additional degree in business a plus.
  • Professional state Registration(s) in either Architecture or Engineering are a plus.
  • Well-connected in the Maritime marketplace with a reputation as an expert leader with past clients and peers.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect vision and strategy to tactical execution.
  • Strong presence and leadership skills with proven experience in building and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organization development skills with confidence to develop and delegate.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, build, and hold teams accountable, and achieve results.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, engage, and build trust with clients and staff.
  • Strong market knowledge with financial, analytical, and business acumen.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter with a record of accomplishment in making good decisions.
