Royal Caribbean Group's Destination Development Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Destination Development reporting to the Director, Destination Development.
This position will be working onsite from Miami.
Position Summary:
The Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, execution, and delivery, and management of strategic development projects in the Caribbean and the Americas. This role will build and sustain long lasting relationships throughout the region and understand the key challenges around development; providing and enacting solutions which will ensure RCG becomes the partner of choice for destinations as they improve infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a broad base of knowledge and some experience with the cruise industry and contract negotiation. In addition, in partnership with the local leadership, the person will assist with government relations, financial planning and analysis, research, and project management. He or she should have an entrepreneurial spirit, can operate in ambiguous environments, effectively balance multiple priorities and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and companies, from frontline personnel to senior and government executives. This position reports to the Director, Caribbean and the Americas, Destination Development and the role will require multiple interactions with internal stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Be able to effectively work across a multitude of time zones, liaising with the entire Destination Development team to advance the project portfolio to best effect.
• Travel, meet, and engage local and national governments as required. Visit and build relationships with key stakeholders within the destinations to listen, understand and respond to the challenges that exist, seeking and providing solutions.
• An ability to listen, and propose solutions, working with the corporation to better the reputation of RCG within the region as an easy to do business with organization, who listens, understands, and helps in the destinations we visit.
• Provide timely reports, advice, and updates on projects, with concise actions and lead those through to completion, engaging other departments as required with a collegiate attitude.
• Work closely with a host of internal stakeholders spread across geographic regions, providing updates, leading discussion, and resolving challenges, while inspiring confidence and a problem-solving attitude.
• Research, interview and provide recommendations on a range of external consultants; negotiate and execute contracts to provide services, evaluate performance versus the scope and delivery, liaising with internal teams as needed.
• Collaborate with Corporate Sustainability Department to confirm various developments align with corporate sustainability and compliance principles.
• The holder of this role will be required to travel, within the Caribbean and the Americas region as required. Travel at times can be as high as 50% of a given month.
Financial Responsibility
Responsible for implementing and coordinating financial activities, operating and capital budgets, tracking actual expenses vs. forecast, and making recommendations to ensure budgetary compliance for the Department and select projects
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Graduate degree preferred (e.g. MBA, Masters in Finance or JD, Engineering, etc).
• English Speaking, with Spanish speaking and/or writing language a plus.
• Experience or knowledge of the cruise industry is desirable.
• Some experience in an interactive role, with knowledge in financial and strategic planning, administration, real estate, construction of facilities or related experience for established companies.
• The ability to live and work in Miami, FL is essential to this role and no visa support will be required.
• Apply strong analytical, financial, conceptual, planning, and strategic thinking to objectives and performance.
• Exercise excellent judgment and the ability to make recommendations and decisions as well as reasoning and risk.
• Initiative combined with creative and innovative entrepreneurial skills that allow the individual to identify, develop and implement opportunities.
• Outstanding oral and written communication, consensus building and presentation skills.
• The ability to organize and manage complex processes with multiple entities is essential.
• Strong inter-functional leadership skills and ability to drive change.
• A global thinker who is familiar with different countries and different cultures is important.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
• Excellent leadership capabilities and ability to develop and manage a team of professionals.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, general business periodicals, contracts, legal documents and technical reports.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities. Must be able to facilitate meetings and solve problems.
