Job Opportunity: Desktop Support Specialist I

Reports to: Desktop Support Manager

Job Location:  Spartronics- 27 Hale Spring Rd; Plaistow, NH 03865 

Hours/Days of Position:  Mon- Thurs 7:00-4:00pm (on-site), Fri 7:00-4pm (work from home). After hours on-call, as needed. 


The Desktop Support Specialist I is responsible for providing hands-on technical support for desktop computing environments, end-user devices, and local Information Technology systems supporting manufacturing operations and business functions. This role installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots computer hardware, software, printers, mobile devices, and other endpoint technologies while ensuring reliable and efficient technology services. The Desktop Support Specialist I partners with Information Technology, infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations, and business teams to resolve technical issues, support technology deployments, and contribute to operational continuity and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for end users by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, and support Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, endpoint software, and approved business applications.
  • Deploy, image, configure, and replace end-user computing devices in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Support user account setup, workstation configuration, equipment moves, and technology onboarding activities.
  • Troubleshoot workstation connectivity issues involving network access, wireless connectivity, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Maintain hardware inventory, asset tracking records, and equipment lifecycle documentation.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs, equipment replacements, and vendor support activities as required.
  • Support conference room technology, audiovisual equipment, and collaboration platforms.
  • Assist with implementation of hardware refreshes, software deployments, operating system upgrades, and Information Technology initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and other Information Technology teams to resolve escalated technical issues.
  • Support endpoint security initiatives including software updates, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, and device compliance activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and equipment records.
  • Provide professional and customer-focused technical support while communicating effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational Information Technology standards, cybersecurity policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • May be required to participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours, weekend, or holiday support for critical incidents, service disruptions, scheduled maintenance, or other operational needs, in accordance with departmental procedures and company policy.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Must be U.S. persons within the definition of ITAR, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. We can not sponsor visas.  


Required Qualifications:

  • Education- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of desktop support, technical support, or related Information Technology experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, desktop hardware, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop computers, laptops, and endpoint technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, user account administration, networking fundamentals, and endpoint management concepts.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.
  • Strong computer proficiency with the ability to effectively utilize enterprise business applications, operating systems, technical tools, and job-related technologies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment regarding organizational and technical information.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to interpret work instructions, technical documentation, and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Azure Active Directory, or comparable endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience supporting mobile device management, endpoint security platforms, or device imaging technologies.
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft, ITIL, or comparable technical certifications.
  • Experience supporting technology deployments, hardware refresh initiatives, or enterprise endpoint management projects.
