Job description

The candidate will be responsible for engineering and maintaining the VDI infrastructure in support of the CSfC/MILS service VMware Horizon system utilizing VMware vSAN, vSphere, vCenter, and Horizon. The candidate will monitory licensing and make recommendations for expansion while administering hardware to support up to 3,500 concurrent connections. The candidate will maintain vSAN infrastructure utilizing VMware’s Dynamic Environment Manager while managing Desktop’s in a nonpersistent manner using linked clone technology. Responsibilities: -Provide technical leadership in the development, integration, and testing of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), supporting multiple geographic locations, network enclaves, and virtual desktop pools. Infrastructure consists of Citrix Provisioning Services, VMWare vCenter, and Dell Wyse Endpoints
-Provide Tier-III assistance to maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, repair and optimize services to include hardware, software, and network components necessary to deliver the latest secured desktop environment
-Conduct vulnerability scanning and vulnerability assessment reporting in accordance with Government policy.
-Ensure regular maintenance of all physical servers to ensure compliance of the hypervisor with all applicable Cyber Tasking Orders (CTO) from higher HQ’s, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) IAVAs, DISA STIGs, compliance to Operations Orders (OPORD) and any additional applicable security requirements as dictated by the Government.
-Create and Manage a Master Windows image that is based off the Fort Eisenhower NEC’s primary base image on NIPR and SIPR.
-Ensure continued service on devices configured in accordance with DoD security policies.
-Design, upgrade, test, and modify the VDI environment based on capacity and utilization requirements
-Troubleshoot and correct detected or reported system and network faults or outages
-Ensure that issues are investigated and resolved and that necessary equipment repairs are performed and documented
-Work with vendors, clients, carriers and technical staff and perform other duties as assigned.
-Communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, have strong leadership skills, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner.
-Work in a dynamic fast paced environment that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.
-Perform administrative and engineering functions found in the service design domain and provide escalated support for problem management.
-Support new project efforts to test, transition, implement, document, and train when transitioned to IT Operations Management. Required Qualifications/Education and Experience: -High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
-Minimum of five (5) years of experience in VDI systems engineering and administration.
-Minimum of seven 2-3 years of experience in systems administration.
-For VMWare one of the following certifications is required VCP, VACP, VCP5, MCSA.
-CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
-Experience in a 24/7 military or government IT environment.
-Knowledge of systems software, hardware, and networking protocols.
-Demonstrated ability to provide an outstanding customer service experience.
-Must have and maintain a Top-Secret clearance. Preferred Qualifications/Experience: -For Server Admin must have a MCSE, MCSA, or MCSD certification.
-Experience in Ports Protocols and Security Measures.
