OVERVIEW
CMMS CPAs & Advisors PLLC, an ATLAS Navigators Firm, seeks an experienced, detail-oriented, and motivated Tax Associate to join our Lubbock team. This full-time, onsite position is a great opportunity for a professional seeking to advance their career in public accounting. Working under the guidance of Partners, Directors, Managers, and CPAs, the Tax Associate will play a key role in tax preparation, general accounting support, and client service. This position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative environment with a firm committed to long-term career development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals and various entity types;
  • Assist with federal and state compliance reporting requirements;
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness;
  • Conduct general bookkeeping tasks, including payroll processing and account reconciliations;
  • Enter and verify financial data, schedule required work, and maintain client files with strict confidentiality;
  • Utilize QuickBooks Online/Desktop, CCH, and Microsoft Office Suite to support day-to-day operations;
  • Maintain a full workload and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks;
  • May support audit-related functions as needed;
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Service mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Team-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and initiative;
  • Proficiency in QuikBooks, Microsoft Office, and CCH
  • Active listening and problem-solving skills.;
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  • Understanding of tax basis accounting methods (Cash and Accrual)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA track or active pursuit of CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in a similar tax/accounting role is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a public accounting firm is a plus.
