Job description

The Associate Desktop Engineer is a junior-level engineering role responsible for implementing, administering, and supporting company-standard endpoint technologies across the CyrusOne Corporate IT Infrastructure. Working from established architecture, designs, and standards developed by senior desktop engineering resources, this role supports Microsoft Intune administration, endpoint configuration, application deployment, device compliance, and technical troubleshooting. The Associate also supports Microsoft 365 and identity-related tasks, maintains technical documentation, resolves escalated endpoint issues, and contributes to desktop engineering projects and technology rollouts. The primary focus is reliable implementation, junior-level platform administration, technical growth, and escalation of architecture or design decisions to senior engineering resources.
Responsibilities:
  • Implement endpoint configurations, application deployments, and technology changes using established architecture, standards, and procedures provided by senior desktop engineering resources.
  • Perform junior-level Microsoft Intune administration, including device enrollment support, device and user group assignments, application deployments, configuration profile assignments, and routine administrative maintenance.
  • Monitor Intune device compliance, deployment status, enrollment health, and application installation results; troubleshoot common failures and escalate policy or design changes as appropriate.
  • Assist with testing and implementing approved Intune configuration profiles, compliance policies, application packages, scripts, and endpoint security settings under the direction of senior engineering resources.
  • Support Windows Autopilot and other approved device provisioning processes, including profile assignment, enrollment troubleshooting, validation, and documentation.
  • Provide advanced endpoint troubleshooting for Windows and macOS devices, Microsoft 365 applications, identity-related issues, and approved business applications escalated from frontline support.
  • Perform routine Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID administrative tasks, including group membership, license assignment, account updates, and device-related access support, in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Support desktop engineering projects, device lifecycle initiatives, application rollouts, endpoint modernization efforts, and approved technology changes.
  • Maintain accurate endpoint configuration, application, assignment, and lifecycle records across Intune and other systems of record.
  • Create and update technical documentation, implementation procedures, knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides, and support handoff materials.
  • Analyze recurring endpoint issues, validate completed changes, and recommend practical improvements to deployment processes, platform administration, and the end-user experience.
  • Escalate complex technical issues, architecture decisions, policy design changes, and exceptions to senior desktop engineering resources or other appropriate support teams.

Minimum Requirements:
Required
  • 0-3 years of experience in desktop support, endpoint administration, service desk, technical internship, coursework, or hands-on lab experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Intune, and Entra ID.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Intune concepts, including device enrollment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, application deployment, and device actions.
  • Foundational knowledge of desktop hardware, software installation, device provisioning, identity and access concepts, networking basics, and common endpoint troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to follow documented technical standards, implementation plans, change procedures, testing requirements, and escalation paths.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer service, written communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle company information, systems access, and equipment responsibly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently on assigned administrative tasks, and collaborate effectively with senior engineers and support teams.
  • Willingness to adjust hours as required by the business, including being onsite for extended hours during emergency situations such as hurricanes.

Education
Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience, technical training, certifications, internships, or demonstrated hands-on experience may be considered.
Certifications: None required. CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900), Microsoft Endpoint Administrator (MD-102), or an equivalent endpoint management certification is preferred.
