Job Summary GIS Technician Make a meaningful impact shaping the maps and data that support our community. Are you passionate about transforming raw geographic data into clear, accurate, and visually compelling maps. Do you enjoy solving technical challenges and working with a team to support vital county operations.

If so, we invite you to apply for our GIS Technician II role. In this position, you'll take the lead on complex GIS assignments, maintain and enhance our geographic databases, and create high-quality cartographic products that help drive decision-making across County Departments and Divisions. Essential Functions What You'll Do As an GIS Technician, your days will be filled with meaningful, hands-on work, including: GIS & Mapping Work Produce detailed maps using advanced GIS techniques, including compiling topographic and planimetric information.

Gather and process field data to enhance and verify spatial datasets. Convert existing files, databases, and documents into GIS-ready formats. Digitize, scan, and process data to support complete mapping workflows.

Quality & Accuracy Review and compare completed maps with original datasets to ensure accuracy. Identify, troubleshoot, and correct mapping or database errors. Collaboration & Support Respond to internal requests for GIS data and mapping support.

Assist teammates and may train or review the work of lower-level technicians. Prepare and maintain project reports, including time tracking for billing. Delivery & Documentation Deliver GIS data and reports to County Departments/Divisions as needed.

Ensure proper authorization when releasing GIS information. Provide customer service regarding GIS activities and help resolve routine issues. What You Bring We're looking for someone who is comfortable handling complex GIS tasks and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Three (3) years of hands-on experience with GIS applications or CAD drafting that demonstrates: Ability to read engineering, construction, and as-built drawings Understanding of GPS coordinates and GIS principles Familiarity with modern cartographic standards Experience maintaining GIS databases Experience in GIS data collection and collaborative team environments is preferred. Required Licenses & Certificates Ability to obtain an ESRI GIS Desktop Associate Certificate within two (2) years of hire/promotion.

Valid Florida Driver's License and eligibility to operate a County vehicle in accordance with CMA 5805. Successful completion of fingerprinting/background check. Additional Information Salary may be offered above the minimum based on qualifications.

This role may be designated as an Essential Employee, requiring availability during declared or undeclared emergencies. This job posting outlines the primary responsibilities but is not exhaustive. Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or GED required.

- Three (3) years of experience working directly with GIS applications and/or computer-automated drafting (CAD) that demonstrate the ability to read and understand engineering/construction drawings and as-built drawings, understanding of GPS coordinates and GIS principles, and knowledge of modern cartographic standards and principles; maintenance of a GIS database; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. - Experience in GIS data collection and ability to work as part of a team preferred. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: - Must possess or have the ability to obtain within two (2) years from the date of hire/promotion an ESRI GIS Desktop Associate Certificate.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805. - Fingerprinting required. Supplemental information Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
