Job description

Flow Traders is looking for an experienced Institutional Trader to join our Institutional Trading team in New York. The ideal candidate will have experience in ETF sales trading, capital markets, or a related institutional role, and is ready to take on meaningful responsibility from day one. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading proprietary trading firm with an entrepreneurial and innovative culture at the heart of its business.

In this role, you will own day-to-day sales trading operations and serve as a key point of contact for institutional clients across Flow Traders' full product suite, including ETFs, Fixed Income, ADRs, and Digital Assets. You will work closely with our proprietary trading desks to lead trade negotiations and execution, while collaborating with risk, operations, and compliance teams to ensure seamless workflows. Beyond execution, you will play an active role in managing and growing capital markets activity and issuer relationships, contributing directly to the commercial growth of the franchise.

What You Will Do 

  • Own and manage day-to-day institutional sales trading across Flow Traders' full product suite with a focus on best execution and client satisfaction.
  • Work closely with Flow Traders' proprietary trading desks to understand and communicate the firm's trading strategies and liquidity offering to institutional counterparties.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with key participants in the U.S. ETF ecosystem, including asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and broker-dealers.
  • Build and manage ETF issuer relationships, acting as a primary liaison between ETF sponsors and Flow Traders' trading desk, providing market structure feedback, secondary market liquidity insights, and supporting new product launches and seeding activity.
  • Collaborate with ETF issuers and authorized participants on basket construction, operational workflows, and capital markets strategy.
  • Represent Flow Traders at industry conferences, roadshows, seminars, and issuer events (e.g., Exchange ETF, Inside ETFs, and similar forums).

What You Need to Succeed

  • 4+ years of experience in ETF sales trading, capital markets, or a related institutional markets role.
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field, preferable finance, economics, business.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining meaningful relationships within the institutional markets community, including buy-side clients, ETF issuers, exchanges, platforms, and authorized participants.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize market data, identify opportunities, and translate complex information into clear, compelling insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a polished, professional presence in client-facing, conference, and internal settings.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership, while thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Series 7, required
  • Series 57, 63, and 3, preferred

Per NYC salary transparency law, the total compensation for this role includes a base of $125,000 - $200,000 plus annual discretionary variable remuneration.
