Job description

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Instrumentation & Controls Designer in the power & automation solutions industry in Calgary, Alberta.

The Instrumentation & Controls Designer will be responsible for the entire I&C scope of projects of various sizes across diverse industries.


Total rewards:

  • $120000.00 - $145000.00 annually

A typical day:

  • Create I&C design documents including system architectures, network diagrams, I/O wiring diagrams, cable diagrams, control narratives etc.
  • Prepare instrumentation datasheets and perform technical bid evaluations
  • Redline, review and approve project drawings and documents to ensure they meet company and client specifications
  • Perform and support FAT (factory acceptance test), IO checkout, loop tests, functional tests, and SAT (site acceptance test)
  • PLC Programming


Successful candidates will have:

  • 7 + years of experience working as an Instrument and Controls Engineer in heavy industrial environments such as oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, or similar industries
  • Technical diploma or engineering degree in a relevant field (e.g. Electrical, electronics, computer science)
  • Strong understanding of the different layers of the OSI and TCP/IP models
  • Proficient using AutoCAD
  • Ability to program Rockwell Allen Bradley
  • Hands-on network troubleshooting preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to client sites
