Job description

The CAD Technician - 3D at Toth and Associates, Inc. (TOTH) is crucial in supporting the engineering team by drafting and preparing detailed project design concepts, plans, and construction documents for various civil projects. As a member of the design team, this position provides an opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and design project teams to develop civil layout drawings using a 3D model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft project design concepts, plans, and construction documents for various civil projects, including commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
  • Develop and prepare construction documents to improve public works facilities, including grading, roadway geometric layouts, erosion control, and drainage systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Civil3D to prepare profiles, alignments, pipe networks, surfaces, and construction drawings and details.
  • Create detailed drawings and models using written and verbal specifications provided by engineers and project managers.
  • Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, clients, local jurisdictions, and consultants to coordinate project details and ensure successful project completion.
  • Maintain an understanding of engineering design work processes and stay updated on commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of the engineering design work process.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with skills in preparing profiles, alignments, pipe networks, surfaces, and construction drawings and details.
  • Experience with 3D modeling in AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in engineering design.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and documents.
  • Ability to handle complex design and drafting assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Experience creating manuals that describe the operation, features, and maintenance of existing products.
