The Role:

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Feature & Experience Verification Engineer to lead end-to-end infotainment feature quality and help deliver exceptional customer experiences. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across design, development, integration, and cross-domain teams, setting a high quality bar and driving modern verification, automation, simulation, and virtualization strategies for complex connected features. You will guide test planning, risk and gap analysis, and overall quality execution in ambiguous environments, while developing innovative test methodologies and process improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, and product robustness. This role also requires strong mentorship and technical coaching to elevate team capability, foster engineering excellence, and enable the successful delivery of high-quality, customer-focused solutions.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Lead end-to-end verification and quality strategy for complex infotainment and connected vehicle features.

  • Partner with design, software development, integration, systems, and cross-domain teams to ensure feature readiness and high-quality execution across the development lifecycle.

  • Set a high technical bar for feature validation and customer experience quality.

  • Drive test planning, requirement analysis, risk assessment, and gap analysis to ensure robust coverage for new and existing features.

  • Define and implement verification strategies across bench, simulation, virtualization, and in-vehicle test environments.

  • Design, develop, and expand automated test coverage to improve efficiency, scalability, and repeatability.

  • Develop innovative test methodologies and identify process improvements that reduce cycle time and improve product quality.

  • Lead issue triage, defect analysis, and resolution tracking to ensure timely closure of quality concerns.

  • Serve as a key technical point of contact for assigned features, providing clear status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and program teams.

  • Collaborate with internal GM teams, suppliers, and external partners to align technical execution, verification plans, and program milestones.

  • Support the development and refinement of requirements, interfaces, test procedures, and test methods to enable robust feature delivery.

  • Mentor and coach engineers by sharing best practices, strengthening verification discipline, and helping elevate overall team technical capability.

  • Promote modern quality engineering practices, including automation-first thinking, scalable validation approaches, and continuous improvement.

  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and data-driven insights to accelerate test design, improve defect detection, optimize verification efficiency, and strengthen overall product quality

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 7+ years of experience in automotive connectivity, telematics, infotainment, or embedded software systems.

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality, software engineering, systems integration, or a closely related technical role.

  • Strong working knowledge of automotive connectivity, infotainment, and communication software architectures.

  • Deep technical expertise in infotainment and connected vehicle domains.

  • Proven experience leading quality strategy and defining test approaches for complex, cross-functional software systems.

  • Strong ability to understand complex system behavior, identify failure modes, and drive effective root cause resolution.

  • Experience developing test strategy, quality requirements, validation plans, and release readiness criteria.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and lead through influence in ambiguous environments.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience with issue tracking, test management, and quality tools such as JIRA and Xray.

  • Hands-on working knowledge of AI and AI-enabled engineering tools, with the ability to apply them to test design, defect analysis, workflow optimization, and quality improvement.

  • Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous validation and release readiness.

  • Strong programming and automation skills in Python and/or Robot Framework.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate.
