Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Bridge Design Project Engineer IV for employment in the Baton Rouge or New Orleans, La. offices.

This career enhancing position will involve performing transportation structure design analysis, including plan preparation of structures in Louisiana and exposure and contributing to project work throughout the Western U.S. 

This important role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects such as the and a dynamic work environment due to the number, type and size of bridges that make up the vast portfolio of the experienced bridge group this engineer will be joining.

The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings Prepares technical specification sections.
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Louisiana PE licensure 
  • Ability to pass MVR check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS, MS and 8 + years of related experience. 
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software such as Civil3D, Microstation, LEAP Bridge Concrete, MDX, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOWare etc.
  • SE highly preferred.
  • Extensive (6-8 + years) TxDOT bridge design project experience.
  • Professional engineering related work environment with heavy emphasis on design of highway bridges.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, develop technical reports and document client communications.
  • Experience in the plan production of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
  • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques and applicable codes.
