Engineering Manager, Design
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of science in engineering, engineering technology or equivalent.
  • Strong background using Catia and Teamcenter.
  • Strong background in CAD system configuration and setup.
  • Minimum of 10 years creating 3D models/assemblies and 2D drawings (Catia preferred).
  • Knowledge of engineering software platforms including CAE (FEA/CFD/1D simulation) and NVH.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple CAD software platforms (preferred skill).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and associated requirements for component design.
  • Drawing checking experience with strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience developing standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to collaborate and work in team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and work multiple tasks to completion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • MS Office proficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and support CAD operations globally for McLaren Engineering.
  • Manage CAD standards and workflows while driving process standardization and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage all engineering software licenses, budgets, and optimization of software usage for a lean holistic system.
  • Manage, organize, and coordinate standardization of lessons learned, best practices, and technical review guides.
  • Manage the Core engineering group of designers including engineering change coordinators and developing KPI's for entire CAD team.
  • Work with product development team(s) to provide resource allocation, manage priorities, and provide status reports.
  • Ensure CAD workflows align with Linamar's Product Development Systems requirements.
  • Create and manage budget for McLaren's CAD and engineering software suites.
  • Create and support engineering design and CAD process documentation.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging CAD, PLM, and engineering software(s) to optimize department productivity.
  • Maintain strong relationships with CAD, PLM, and engineering software providers.
  • Establish training plans and mentor CAD team members as well as other design engineers.
  • Provide guidance for professional growth and improvement for team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and all other HR related responsibilities for direct reports.
