Summary:
The Tire Design Engineer supports the development of new tires through learning and applying foundational principles of tire construction, performance, and manufacturing. This entry-level role is designed for recent engineering graduates or those with minimal industry experience and provides mentorship, training, and hands-on exposure to design tools, test facilities, and manufacturing processes. The engineer will contribute to development projects while gaining a deep understanding of how tires are designed, tested, and produced.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Learn tire construction and how performance relates to design components such as pattern, cavity, and compound
• Conduct engineering analyses including bead strength, cord load, drum set calculations, and performance estimations
• Gain proficiency in PDM (Product Data Management) systems for tire specification
• Perform section analysis measurements and specification reconciliation
• Support and monitor experimental tire builds; prepare documentation for review meetings
• Develop and manage test programs, including monitoring and reporting test results
• Learn and apply predictive modeling and simulation methods
• Travel to test sites to observe testing processes, gather data, and generate reports
• Receive training in CATIA CAD to create tire cavity and tread detail drawings
• Manufacturing on site requiring oversight of experimental tire builds
• Perform other engineering tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (entry-level, training-focused role)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools (CATIA preferred)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Initiative and ability to work independently
• Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
• Sensitivity to cultural differences in global environments
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with CATIA or other design software
• Exposure to tire industry or automotive engineering through internships or coursework
• Project coordination or data analysis experience

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to travel domestically on a very limited basis
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials when necessary

Work Environment:
• Primarily office-based with time in the plant following experimental tire builds
• Exposure to tire testing facilities and factory floor environments
