Description

The Design Engineer I rapidly scopes and designs customized cable assemblies. Skills required are producing AutoCAD drawings, creating a complete bill of materials, sourcing components and providing real-time support to production teams. This role is well suited for a candidate who is extremely detail-oriented, responsive, and eager to build a foundation in engineering, product development, and manufacturing support.

This position offers hands-on exposure to engineering, sourcing, product management, production, and commercial functions, with the opportunity to develop technical skills and grow into expanded responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Technical Sales Engineers on market analysis of competing products to determine and establish customer needs and catalogue requirements.
  • Respond to customer, distributor and intermediary questions during quoting.ย 
  • Design and develop products with a focus on connectorized solutions, production capabilities, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Coordinate component sourcing with suppliers and internal resources in purchasing and production.ย 
  • Maintain product specifications, compliance and regulatory requirements for all products.
  • Prepare cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans and related customer documents, consulting with engineers, managers, and other personnel.
  • Rapidly and accurately design basic AutoCAD drawings and work instructions.
  • Create part records within the Epicor ERP system.
  • Respond to questions from the Product Management, Sourcing and Production departments.
  • Participate in internal R&D projects to develop new products and capabilities.ย

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent working experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD-CAM software and related programs. Both 2D & 3D Preferred.
