About the Role
Our client is seeking an Industrialization Design Engineer to support the introduction of new products into a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product transitions from development to production, with a strong focus on manufacturability, process optimization, and documentation.
Role Purpose
  • Support the introduction of new products into the manufacturing facility in alignment with established product development processes.
  • Collaborate with the lead industrialization engineer and design teams to transition PCBAs from development to manufacturing.
  • Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure optimal product and process design for manufacturability.
  • Develop and maintain associated documentation, estimate manufacturing costs, and support prototype and pilot build activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Industrialization representative on NPI and Continuation Engineering project teams, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Identify assembly equipment, tooling, and fixture requirements; support procurement, installation, and validation as needed.
  • Participate in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analyses.
  • Track product manufacturing costs throughout the NPI lifecycle.
  • Participate in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
  • Actively contribute to new product design evaluations.
  • Identify, develop, and implement cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives for new products.
  • Ensure compliance with all production environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Support cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, end-to-end manufacturing validation strategies.
  • Manage 1-2 projects across different product lines, including timeline and action-plan communication to ensure cost-effective solutions are delivered on schedule.
  • Collaborate with or lead team members inside and outside the Industrialization group to achieve shared objectives.
  • Use facts and logic to influence decisions and support multiple business units and manufacturing plants simultaneously.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent education).
  • 0+ years of experience; prior engineering internship or co-op preferred.
  • Professional background in electronics or related manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Project Management and DFMA (Design for Manufacturability & Assembly).
  • Exposure to PCBA manufacturing or electronics manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to execute transactions in an ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Access, Word, Excel).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate data and situations using engineering problem-solving skills and an understanding of current business and operational trends.
