Job description

The Design Engineer is accountable for the development and design of non-destructive excavation equipment. Responsibilities will include the preparation of CAD models, FEA simulations, manufacturing drawings, working closely with manufacturing, and ensuring designs conform to applicable standards and regulations. Badger is a safety-oriented company, and it is important to use this to help develop a competitive advantage and raise the standards of the industry.

The compensation for this role will be commensurate based on education and/or experience.ย 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develops and executes a 1-year business plan ensuring alignment with the overall corporate strategic plan and the immediate manager's business plan.ย 
  • Designs manufacturing processes and products with various criteria in mind, including cost-effectiveness, user experience, and environmental standards.
  • Research opportunities for new products and systems, then create prototypes.
  • Sets individual initiatives for performance and deadlines supporting Badger's manufacturing goals.
  • Ensures compliance with Badgers' safety policies, regulations and high service standards.ย 
  • Develops and prepares engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, performs engineering calculations, specification sheets and CAD models.

What You'll Need For Success:

  • Education: Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited University or Institute.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or EIT with APEGA.
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience.
  • 3D CAD experience, including standardized drafting practices (Solidworks preferred); experience with PDM CAD server would be beneficial but not required.ย 
  • Strong working knowledge of common software packages (MS Office, Acrobat, etc.).
  • The role requires mobility within work environments, use of office equipment, lifting up to 20 pounds, clear vision and hearing, effective communication skills, and occasional travel for meetings and training sessions.
