ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Virtual Design Coordinator is responsible for the execution of BIM/VDC activities across active projects. The role ensures models and deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and construction-ready while acting as the link between VDC teams, Project Managers, site leadership, and trade partners.

Duties & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

  • BIM/VDC coordination across multiple active projects
  • Act as the primary liaison between VDC, Project Managers, field teams, engineers, and trade partners
  • Ensure models are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with current design and field conditions
  • Manage model quality, including constructability, completeness, and version control
  • Oversee clash detection processes and drive timely resolution of coordination issues
  • Coordinate production of shop drawings, installation drawings, and other project deliverables
  • Ensure deliverables are issued accurately and in accordance with project schedules
  • Provide technical leadership and support to VDC coordinators and modelers
  • Review outputs for quality, consistency, and adherence to standards
  • Lead or participate in coordination and project meetings; prepare model views and updates
  • Track action items, responsibilities, and deadlines
  • Maintain and improve VDC workflows, file management practices, and internal procedures
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process
  • Support adoption of new technologies (e.g., 3D scanning, reality capture) and related training
  • Evaluate tools and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Respond to field issues, design discrepancies, and coordination challenges
  • Ensure alignment between model outputs and field execution

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Completion of college program in Mechanical or CAD CAM Technology and 2-5 years' experience
  • Preference to engineering education, mechanical engineering technology
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • BIM/VDC experience in construction or fabrication environment
  • Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks (or equivalent tools)
  • Strong understanding of constructability, sequencing, and coordination
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Familiarity with document control and project workflows
