Design Manager
Location: Bronx, NY 4 days a week on site required
Salary: $120,000-$160,000
Position Summary
The Design Manager will oversee design compliance, construction quality, and technical coordination on a large-scale project in the Bronx. This role is responsible for ensuring design intent is properly implemented throughout construction while supporting project delivery, regulatory readiness, quality assurance, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure designs, building systems, RFIs, submittals, and construction activities comply with project requirements and contract documents.
  • Review and coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, material samples, and mock-ups for design conformance.
  • Conduct field inspections, quality reviews, and pre-walks to support regulatory inspections, testing, and project milestones.
  • Monitor project progress related to scope, quality, schedule, and cost, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate subject matter expert (SME) reviews for critical building systems, including envelope, waterproofing, firestopping, MEP, life safety, acoustics, and security systems.
  • Review change order requests and provide technical recommendations.
  • Facilitate resolution of design and construction issues among project stakeholders.
  • Prepare field observation reports with documentation, tracking issues through final closeout.
  • Ensure project documentation, quality processes, and records are properly maintained.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in design review, construction administration, field inspections, and quality assurance.
  • Experience with high-rise, public sector, or large complex construction projects.
  • Design-Build project experience strongly preferred.
  • Professional Architectural License preferred.
  • Familiarity with NYC regulatory agencies and permitting processes is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
