Overview:

An internship is available at East Blackland Solar in the Deriva Energy Sustainable Solutions organization in conjunction with Austin Community College. This position will report to the site location in Manor, Texas. The intern will undertake short-term responsibilities which may involve any or all of the following: on-site operations support, on-site repairs and maintenance requests, assistance in development of maintenance procedures, work order management, outage investigations, and other duties assigned in support of operations of the solar site. As part of the internship program, the intern will receive training on the facilities software system and reporting. This position will be for at least 10-weeks and pay at a minimum the County living wage of $19.24 - $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting site technicians and management with daily office duties.

  • Assisting qualified site technicians with repairs, maintenance, and operations of a solar plant.

  • Assisting procedure writers with administrative help pertaining to the development of maintenance procedures

  • Assist the team SRC with purchasing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a two-year degree in an Engineering related major

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75

  • Valid Driver's License

Desired Qualifications:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite software

  • General understanding of electrical fundamentals.

  • Demonstrates ability to provide the quantity and quality of work necessary to reach an accomplishment

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through effective decision making

  • Works effectively with others from diverse backgrounds to achieve common goal

  • Ability to deliver superior results within allocated time through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work

  • Demonstrates tenacity by remaining persistence in the face of difficulty

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in use of computers, software, and engineering applications

  • Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry

  • Previous engineering work experience

    Working Conditions

    • Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Deriva Energy facility.
