Job description

Workers’ Compensation Legal Assistant

We are a growing California law firm seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented legal assistant to support our workers’ compensation practice.

This role is perfect for someone who loves organization, checklists, and making sure important work gets done correctly and on time. *Must be bilingual (Spanish and English- conversational and professional)

The Legal Assistant helps the attorney and case manager on legal tasks, including coordinating medical treatment, managing case files, tracking deadlines, and communicating with clients and medical providers.

If you enjoy process-driven work, attention to detail, and keeping complex systems running efficiently, this position will be extremely rewarding.

Core Responsibilities

Goal: help files move forward according to firm procedures. Specifically with:

Medical Coordination

  • Schedule PTP and medical appointments
  • Coordinate QME appointments
  • Request medical reports
  • Follow up with medical providers

Legal Support

  • Prepare and organize documents for filing
  • E-file documents through the WCAB EAMS system
  • Prepare discovery requests and subpoena
  • Assist with deposition scheduling and preparation

Client Support

  • Communicate with clients regarding appointments and case updates
  • Ensure clients attend medical evaluations and depositions
  • Assist clients with mileage reimbursement forms

Records & File Management

  • Organize medical records and documents
  • Maintain case files in Merus case management system
  • Upload documents and track key events in each case

Administrative Support

  • Prepare and send legal correspondence
  • Coordinate interpreters and transportation services
  • Maintain organized document folders
