Principal Duties and Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform bookkeeping duties, including posting, balancing, reconciling, and maintaining deposit-related records and transactions.
  • Provide responsive phone and email support to customers, bank employees, and internal departments regarding deposit operations and electronic banking products.
  • Research, identify, and assist with resolution of account errors, non-posted transactions, overdraft decisions, returned items, and other deposit-related issues.
  • Prepare, verify, audit, print, and distribute reports, customer notices, statements, and other operational communications.
  • Process, scan, index, file, and maintain deposit documents, returned mail records, automatic transfer authorizations, asset verifications, and related records.
  • Reconcile official check general ledger accounts and monitor official checks for signing limits and accuracy.
  • Process returned deposit items, foreign checks, consumer credit verifications, verifications of deposit, and customer account data entry or file maintenance.
  • Review, reconcile, initiate, approve, and maintain documentation for incoming and outgoing wire transactions in accordance with procedures.
  • Perform audit and quality review activities, including posted entries, file maintenance, debit card information, risk reports, and potential suspicious activity.
  • Provide coverage for Deposit Operations duties, support business account maintenance and Treasury Management requests, and complete special reports or projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):

  • Strong computer skills, including basic Windows and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Knowledge of banking operations, back-room item processing, image scanning/proof operations, and electronic banking products.
  • Familiarity with ATM/debit card processing, ACH processing, item processing, and data processing systems preferred.
  • Accounting background, knowledge, or experience preferred, with strong math, reconciliation, and proofreading skills.
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and respond appropriately to management direction.
  • Ability to understand and comply with applicable federal and state banking laws and regulations related to deposit operations.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to assist customers, clients, and employees courteously and clearly.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills, including the ability to respond promptly and professionally to customer needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work effectively as part of a team, and support a professional banking environment.
