Job Details

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a Full-time Perfusionist to join our dynamic Cardiac Surgery practice located at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE just 40 miles south of center city Philadelphia. The successful candidate will join our employed team of 6 full-time and 2 part-time Perfusionists. Call is shared at 1:6. This position offers access to a wide range of cardiac surgery procedures and technologies with state-of-the-art facilities and experienced support staff.

Christiana Care's experienced Cardiac Surgery team performs close to 1,000 procedures annually. CCHS is a regional referral center for patients throughout Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania for cardiac surgery procedures including coronary artery bypass, aortic and mitral valve repair and replacement, TAVR, TEVAR, Lead Extraction, Mitraclip, ECMO, VAD, complex aortic procedures, and robotic coronary procedures.

Our practice is located on our expansive Christiana Hospital campus, a level 1 trauma center with 913 beds.

Work Hours:

The shift will be discussed during the interview. Please note, holiday, overnight, and weekend call will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews patient medical history and chart.

  • Determines, assembles and monitors equipment needed for cardiopulmonary bypass and other extra corporeal life support procedures.

  • Monitors patients' blood temperature, composition and flow rate.

  • Ensures clinically efficient blood salvaging techniques.

  • Monitors blood gas and blood chemistry.

  • Monitors anticoagulation and hematological analysis.

  • Manages hemodilution and hemofiltration techniques.

  • Attends and participates in meetings, seminars and committees.

  • Educate/lecture on related perfusion subject material as dictated by the Chief Perfusionist.

  • Assist in the development, maintenance and enforcement of administrative and clinical policies and procedures.

  • Provide input towards the overall design and development of the department.

  • Assist in the development of performance improvement ideas.

  • Assist the Chief Perfusionist in overseeing point of care testing including training, management and quality control.

  • Assist with ordering and stocking of disposable items as well as management of annual preventive maintenance on equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Perfusion program required.

  • Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or board eligible with certification received within 18 months of hire..

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

Hourly Pay Range: $73.09 - $116.94 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
