Company Overview

A major, mission-driven community health organization in New York State serves more than 100,000 patients annually across 27 practices located in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and the Mid-Hudson Valley. As a federally qualified health center (FQHC) network, it provides comprehensive, affordable primary care, mental health, and dental services regardless of a patient's ability to pay.

Position Overview

A major, mission-driven community health organization in New York State has Dental Assistant Needs for Bronx and Manhattan Dental Clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Checks in patients and notifies providers that patient is present.
  • Maintain dental laboratory, process instruments, and monitor lab cases (check-in of lab cases, pouring impressions where indicated, storing cases, sending out lab cases, completing lab log sheets, etc.)
  • Follows weekly and monthly maintenance procedures for all sterilization and radiograph developing equipment.
  • Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by department, organization, and overseen by Infection Control Officer.
  • Records patient appointment data daily i.e. no shows, cancellations, emergencies, payment source Medicaid self-pay, etc.
  • Takes and process radiographs as directed by the dentist/ hygienist.
  • Place treatment plans, periodontal charts, informed consent forms, referral forms, and contracts for complex treatment into the dental subdivision of the comprehensive medical records.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Dental Assistant Certification and clinical externship required
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting preferred, family practice setting a plus. Open to New Grads.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in 4-handed dentistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
