Job description

Emery Sapp and Sons is seeking a motivated Concrete Saw Operator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in the construction industry and learn a specialized trade. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing concrete cutting, sawing, and removal operations while learning the safe operation of a variety of concrete cutting equipment. Previous concrete sawing experience is not required; however, candidates with construction, concrete, utility, demolition, or laborer experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Concrete Cutting: Operate various types of concrete saws (e.g., wall saws, flat saws, wire saws) to cut through concrete surfaces such as walls, floors, and pavements.
  • Preparation and Setup: Set up and prepare cutting equipment and work areas. Ensure tools are well-maintained and calibrated.
  • Measurement and Layout: Accurately measure and mark cutting lines and areas based on project blueprints and specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Quality Control: Inspect cut areas for accuracy and ensure that work meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on saw equipment. Report major equipment issues to the supervisor.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and supervisors to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Cleanup: Ensure the work area is clean and free of debris at the end of each shift. Properly dispose of or recycle materials as required.

Qualifications:
  • Previous construction, concrete, utility, bridge, demolition, or general labor experience preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn specialized equipment and construction techniques.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to safety and quality.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • The position requires working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • May involve exposure to dust, noise, and vibrations from equipment.
  • Use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye protection, and gloves, is mandatory.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
