Job description

Top Box Foods (TBF) is a community-driven nonprofit that creates access to healthy and affordable food. We do this by facilitating home Grocery Delivery Programs throughout the Chicagoland area to Seniors and Folks who need it most.

We are currently seeking the support of a Delivery Driver to support our Home Grocery Delivery Team. Additional this person will assist with all programmatic distribution efforts including preparation of deliveries and warehouse support.


All applicants must have a Valid Driver’s License.


Main Objectives

  • SAFELY facilitate packaging and distribution of fresh produce boxes and other healthy groceries for families, community partners, and community events
  • RESPONSIBLY operate TBF vehicles and equipment to ensure quality and integrity of all staff, products, and services
  • POSITIVELY represent organizational values and expectations in both team and community settings at all times

Job Details

Compensation

  • $20.00 per hour starting pay based on experience and availability, paid bi-weekly
  • Unlimited 20% employee discount off all TBF groceries
  • Healthcare and retirement benefits available per Employee Handbook

Schedule

  • Flexible scheduling based on employee availability, days available are typically Monday-Saturday
  • 30-40 hours a week scheduling available, with the opportunity to work overtime, increase hours/days and advance depending on availability, job performance, and interest


Daily Responsibilities

  • Practice flexibility and commitment to the TBF mission and values
  • Safely and efficiently prepare and distribute produce and other healthy groceries to households, community partner food shares and other community commitments
  • Effectively utilize cell phone apps to navigate driving routes and communicate delivery information to customers
  • Actively support Warehouse and Operations Coordinators and colleagues with daily logistics
  • Act as a TBF ambassador while working in the community, maintaining active and up to date knowledge of ongoing programs and community resources that increase healthy food access

Desired Skills

  • Personable and community-driven with a strong interest in food justice and community health
  • Ability to safely drive and operate delivery vehicles, such as sprinter vans, 16-ft.+ box trucks
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Enjoys working in both team and independent settings
  • Bilingual or Multilingual skills a plus, but not required

Relevant Experience

  • Experience with delivery/ distribution, and/or general warehouse tasks
  • Delivery Services (ie. uberEats, DoorDash, UPS, InstaCart)
  • Restaurant / Hospitality Industry (ie. kitchen, barback, front of house)
  • Non Profit/ Service/ Community/ Volunteer Work
